What Men Want (Remake of What Woman Want) - Blu-ray Forum

Paramount Players is moving quickly on the its latest comedy “What Men Want,” tapping Adam Shankman to direct the film, which is inspired by the Nancy Meyers’ 2000 rom-com, “What Women Want.”

Taraji P. Henson is set to star in the pic, with Will Packer and James Lopez producing and Shankman executive producing.

The original movie starred Mel Gibson as a marketing exec who suddenly has the ability to hear what women are thinking after a freak accident. In the remake, the roles are reversed, with Henson playing sports agent who has been constantly boxed out by her male colleagues. When she gains the power to hear men’s thoughts, she is able to shift the paradigm to her advantage as she races to sign the NBA’s next superstar.

The project, set to bow on Jan. 11, 2019, will be spearheaded by Brian Robbins and Ali Bell under the newly formed division at Paramount.

What the actual F? What Women Want was already hot garbage and now we get this? Henson needs a new agent ASAP if she keeps getting crap like this and Packer needs to pack it in if this is the best he can do.
I guess we can expect non-stop stereotypes and generalizations for its potential running time.

Hopefully, Paramount will come to their senses and pull the plug on this dumpster fire. It'll be the one of the few smart decisions they've made recently.

You know what.. I like it. If Hollywood can screw up a franchise like Ghostbusters with feminism, then they can happily screw up this movie, but in the most ironic and awesome way possible. I'm in. And I WILL love it. This is the Yin I so desperately needed against the many Yangs.

I guess this will be the new trend with remakes/reboots. The general consensus has always been that most remakes are unwanted, but now Hollywood thinks spicing it up by gender swapping characters is the solution.

It was a bit dull, with only one very funny scene when he goes back to his secretaries and hears nothing at all.
