LONDON — Brit thesps Simon Pegg and Nick Frost will play the Thompson Twins in Peter Jackson and Steven Spielberg’s two-pic "Tintin" project.
The 3-D performance-capture films, based on Georges Remi's comic books and co-financed by Sony Pictures Entertainment and Paramount Pictures, will center on Tintin’s globetrotting adventures as a fearless reporter. In the books, the Thompson Twins are a pair of incompetent, clumsy detectives who can only be told apart by the shape of their moustaches — Thompson, with a “p,” has a flat moustache, while Thomson, without the “p,” has a flared version.
Pegg and Frost have worked together often. They came to the fore in cult Brit TV laffer “Spaced,” before successfully reteaming in box-office successes “Shaun of the Dead” and “Hot Fuzz.” Pegg also toplined “Run Fat Boy Run” and “How to Lose Friends and Alienate People.”
The casting was confirmed by Dawn Sedgwick, Pegg’s agent in London, who was unable to confirm if the Twins would appear in both pics.
As previously reported, Andy Serkis will play Tintin’s sidekick Captain Haddock. Tintin has yet to be cast. Thomas Sangster had been set for the role, but exited the project when it was delayed due to funding difficulties caused by the DreamWorks/Paramount split.

While I'm a big fan of Pegg, Frost and Tintin, I can't really see how this is going to work??

The whole basis of Thompson and Thomson is that they're twins....oh well, I'm sure they'll do a top notch job!!

Can't really see Serkis as Haddock though....Haddock is a big, burly character....

Because ISTR reading that no studio was actually funding the movie at the moment, due to the fact the first would have to gross $450M alone just to make back Steve and Peter's salaries plus the CGI costs?

(Hey, the article was a surprise to me too, I'd heard the movie was dead three months ago!)

Whoa.. I would have guessed Simon Pegg to play Tintin.. that would be an awesome match without much extra facial work.
