Default Best Science-Fiction Novel?

In your opinion, what is the best science-fiction novel ever written?

Slaughterhouse-Five?... War of the Worlds?...

Dune, by far. Nothing else even comes close.

I say the Foundation books by Isaac Asimov.

Anyone who dares disagree should be thrown into that big black hole that lies in the center of our galaxy

I'll throw Contact by Carl Sagan out there. One of my favorite books ever.

Bingo.

Even beat Ringworld, which was was the previous best.

The Puppet Masters is up there, too, maybe tied with Mote.

Make it a three way tie: Lord of Light.

1984 isn't really science fiction, but it is my favorite book . ^_^

The Time Machine is really good also.

I've read many many SCI -FI books in my time. Nothing really compares to ORSON SCOTT CARDS: ENDERS GAME. THe new comic adaptation is excellent as well. What an addition.

Blade Runner (Do Androids Dream of Electronic Sheep), and Neuromancer are two of my favorite books.

Enders game for me. Followed by stephen kings dark tower series, they are more sci fi/fantasy.

Sorry if my selection offends anyone but the last science fiction novel I read was Killobyte (Piers Anthony). It was damn good. I don't read too much scifi but before Killobyte I read The Sphere multiple times which is SUPERIOR to the film. I know that's so cliche to say but it's true.

Wow, I didn't know Piers did some Sci-fi. All I've read from him was Xanth and Incarnations.

It's not cut and dry Sci-Fi, but I'd say The Dark Tower Series by King.

the Ender series is great, check out Ender's Shadow if you haven't. Card also re-did the Iron Man origin for Marvel and you can get that in a tpb format now as well. it's really good.

a lot of stuff by Heinlein is amazing, especially for the time. Starship Troopers blows the craptacular movie away

Couldn't agree more. Ringworld got too esoteric with the sequels. Integral Tree books were pretty interesting. I haven't read much of the newer Niven stories, but I have some sitting around the house unread.
