Amazing news. Many were disappointed when the Criterion release for Cat People didn't include this too, so this works out perfectly. This deal between Warner and Shout! is a godsend.

The It's Alive trilogy was the first Warner-related announcement. Now we're up to 6 titles in total, and I suspect it's a pretty expansive agreement if they're licencing something like Night of the Lepus. It just remains to be seen if there are non-horror titles in there.

Despite the exploitative title, this is an imaginative and sensitively observed portrait of a lonely child and rates as highly as any of the acclaimed films out there on childhood...with a dash of the supernatural, of course.
Looks like the much-speculated Warner and Shout/Scream deal is a go and the possibilities are mouth-watering; can't wait for any and all announcements this opens the door to! |

Assumedly I Walked with a Zombie will be up next, but I'm hoping for The 7th Victim!

WAC has been releasing such deep catalog material recently and doing such a stellar job with the transfers that I would have been much more excited about a Shout deal with Paramount, but oh well, I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth. I just hope that WAC is doing new transfers and handing them off to Shout instead of giving moldy old ones to Shout.

If you can get past that hurdle, though, this is a damn fine movie...and Robert Wise's first directorial effort, I believe. |

As Zombie would have been a far more ‘appropriate’ choice for SF, I’m thinking that one was already spoken for by Criterion or WAC themselves. I could see SF following this up with a Karloff double-feature of Body Snatcher and Isle of the Dead. The former also has Lugosi, so that would seem to be a more marketable choice than Curse, meaning that it’s unlikely that Curse is a Lewton one-off for them (though they may be waiting to see how Curse does before proceeding further).
