Default 60+ in LCD TVs

Hi All,

I'm thinking of upgrading from my 67" Sammy DLP. I figured LCD would be a worthy upgrade, except so far I only found 65" Sharp aquos, around 5.5K, which I liked and Sony which is around 20K, clearly out of my budget.

Any other options I should consider, look into?

And is plasma worth researching?

At that size I would go Plasma, unless the room you watch in is bright. But even then at that size plasma. It would save you a pretty penny also.

I've seen a Laservue, the picture is great...it still doesn't look better than a Kuro. Not to mention it has a 7,000 dollar price tag. Hell if you look around enough you'll find a 60" Kuro for less than 5 grand.

As a KURO owner, that certainly makes me feel better. But have a look here:

http://gizmodo.com/376852/mitsubishi...w-best-tv-ever

"HD Guru says that the LaserVue set popped colors that were "the most vivid of any display device I had ever seen" besting a Pioneer Kuro and Sharp LCD in a side-by-side, while consuming only half the power of an LCD set."

You be the judge.

Exactly what I saw, I kinda like my reds to look red not orange. And all the reds on a Laservue looked orange.

But the laservue's picture show's more of a detailed metallic iron man suit. The kuro looks good, but a little soft and the suit looks plasticky compared to the first pic. I also see more shadow detail on the first pic. Wondering which version the director intended to show

So you want to have your colors of your TV absolutely wrong just to have a little extra detail? Call me crazy but I want my colors to be spot on I can live without extra detail. Now granted Laservue had crazy detail but I hate to see something I know is one color and it comes out another.

But how would you know for sure the exact color of the suit if you haven't look at it physically and compared it to the image on the two TVs. Who knows which color is correct, maybe the kuro's or maybe the laservue's.

Because in the hundreds of Iron Man Comic books that have been in print for over 40 years his suit has been (among various other colors) RED and gold.

As you can see...

IMO, the red in the comic books doesn't look like the red in any of the two images above. Anyway, I don't want to argue. Everyone has their own preference and opinion.

No, the room isn't too bright.
What's the difference between Pioneer PRO 151FD - 60" Elite KURO plasma 6k
and
Pioneer PDP-6020FD 60-Inch Class KURO Plasma HDTV 3.8k ? Prices are quite off.

Preferably I'd have 65" vs. 60".

You're right, some people like their Iron Man Orange and Gold, and some like their Iron Man RED and Gold. *Throws up the peace sign and leaves*

Well for the record, I don't like iron man orange and gold, as clearly the iron man in the first pic is NOT ORANGE and the second pic looks more burgundy than red.

The Elite has more controls over picture (color temp, gamma, etc), which could yield a more accurate picture if calibrated properly. It also comes with a 2 years warrantly. Personally, not enough of a difference to warrant a 2G premium.
