Default Quick question regarding crossover setting

I have a set of Infinity Sterling speakers that I'm inheriting tomorrow and I also have a pair of Insignia NS-B2111 speakers that will now become the rears.

The speakers are rated as follows:

Infinity's: 65Hz-20KHz frequency response

Insignia's: 50Hz-20KHz frequency response

What should I set my crossover to on my receiver? It goes from 40HZ-200HZ in increments of 10. Also, the Infinity's are rated @ 6 ohms and the Insignia's are rated @ 8 ohms, will I run into any issues regarding that?

-Matt

You didn't mention which receiver you have. No issues with the 8 ohm rating, but 6 ohms raises a flag with many receivers, including my own Yamaha. First of all read your receiver's manual, probably in the setting up the speaker section. There it will usually tell you what other setting(s) might have to be made if you are using low impedance speakers, that is 4 ohms - 6 ohms nominal, ie, for stationary (no motion) speaker cone. If your receiver has to be set for 4 - 6 ohm nominal speakers, then I suggest you make that setting. If you don't, there is the risk of damaging both your receiver and speakers, if you try to drive speakers that are lower in nominal impedance than your receiver is rated to handle.
