Pioneer VSX-1016TXV-k Blu-Ray using HDMI - Blu-ray Forum

I have a Pioneer VSX-1016TXV-k receiver which I cannot get to work with Blu-Ray. I am using a Sylvania NB500SL9 DVD player. It is connected with an HDMI connection for video and RCA phono plugs for audio (this unit does not play audio through HDMI).

When I play a regular DVD all is well. When I insert a Blu-Ray DVD all appears OK (the TV displays an image of the drawer closing and the inderx being read) but when the movie starts, the receiver indicates "No Signal". When I put another standard DVD in the player, the movie plays correctly.

I already exchanged the Sylvania player thinking it must be the problem but the new unit has the same symptoms.

Does anyone have any experience with this usnit playing HDMI Blu-Ray?

I got the answer from Pioneer Customer Support and I thought I'd share it. Some Blu-Ray Players output HDMI 1080P(24) as a default. The VSX-1016TXV doesn't support this; hence, "no signal" is displayed. I had to change the settings for video on the Sylvania unit to 1080i. All is now well
