Default DVD Movie on Samsung BD-P2550 "pauses"

I purchased the Samsung BD-P2550 bluray player on the day after christmas. Last night i played the movie Live Free Die Hard. This is the standard DVD not bluray. Just a little more than 3/4 the way through the movie, the movie looked like it froze but i hit stop and then play and it resumed playing fine. I was like i hit pause but i never did. Any ideas? Havent tried any more movies so far. And the until has latest firm ware.

Me personally,
I find Samsung players to be very touchy.
I recommend to always clean your disc before playing.
Make it a habit.
Iam not saying this was the problem but it is a good Chance that this is what might have caused it.
I owned a Samsung 1400 and i learned this right off the bat

Maybe it was where the dual layer DVD disc switched layers?

I've had a lot of DVD playback issues with my Samsung BD-P1200.

In some cases, I will get brief little split-second pauses in the picture. It almost looks like a layer change, only the audio keeps going, and after the pause, the picture then resumes where it should be. This can happen several times throughout a movie.

Then there are times where in the middle of a movie, things just get all glitchy and freeze up entirely. Sometimes this even happens with a brand new DVD that I just bought and opened up (I still get DVDs from time to time for TV series and even the occasional movie that isn't on Blu-Ray), so it's not like the disc even had time to get dirty at all.

And I won't even go into some of the BD playback issues with this player.

Most of the time, I just end up putting the disc in my PS3, and it plays back just fine.

There was a very brief pause which i believe was the layer change. My issue was about 75-80% through the movie.

are these pauses on Samsungs physical problems or just units that require better firmware updates? The 2550 has awesome picture quality especially on standard dvds.

Default update

Well, after reading all the great feedback from the cool people on this site, this afternoon i returned the Samsung 2550 and paid the extra and got the Sony BDP550. I noticed right out of the box, that no updates were required. Sweet! The Samsung was updated 3 times in the week and a half that i owned it. Will post any problems with the Sony if found. Thanks again everyone!

Default Update: Sony BDPS550

Well, i am so far, really impressed with the Sony BDPS550. I again watched the unrated edition of Live Free Die Hard (DVD) not BluRay.
58 minutes into the movie, there was a noticeable change of layers but later on, close to the end of the movie, it did not "pause/freeze" like the Samsung 2550 did.

I own a Samsung 32" LCD that i bought about 5 months ago and is a fantastic tv. Its too bad that their BluRays arn't as good.
