I’ve noticed on some of these lists that people like to put a lot more than the allocated number (earlier in this thread somebody put 35). The Top 20 is going to be the overall results, however as to clear confusion (and make it even more challenging to pick titles) 20 will be the limit.

It is difficult to differentiate from my favorite movies and the best Criterions. Once a favorite movie gets the Criterion treatment it is a favorite usually due to the better transfer and extras. With that said, here goes...

Well I certainly don't think Le Samourai is one of the best Criterion releases in terms of PQ, artwork and extras.

But it's one of my favorite films in the collection, one that I longed for an upgrade of for a long time.

...so there's no way I'm not putting it on my list.
