Default Braveheart Delayed????

If there is already a thread of this topic, I wasn't able to find it. Was "Braveheart" on Blu-Ray delayed? It was expected to be released on January 20, 2009, but I can't seem to find a release date on any sites.

It's a day one buy for me. I was really disappointed when there was no confirmation for the Jan. 20th date.

I was looking forward to Braveheart's release. It's delay is a real disapointment.

My favorite movie for years, this is on my short list of DVDs I still own while I wait for a BD (alongside Gladiator, Apollo 13).

One the very few movies I'd consider importing if it was applicable here. A definite must have for me.

I could have sworn it was announced for 1/20/09 release. Braveheart is a classic, I got to spend a lot of time with Randall Wallace, the writer, absolutely wonderful guy to talk to. Hopefully Paramount will give this Blu-Ray the attention to detail it so deserves and not have it be a "one small step up from standard DVD" like the Mission Impossible films and Tommy Boy recently.

It seems like yesterday Braveheart was having it's world premiere here in Seattle at the Seattle International Film Festival. Time really does fly by....

I could have sworn it was mentioned quite some time ago on digital bits that it would not be out in January with no approximate release date.

I actually worry about how this film will hold up for me. I always felt that after the battle of Sterling the movie REALLY started to drag out and the pacing came to a screeching halt. It was a little too long and had a little too much ancillary nonsense for me. Not saying its a bad movie, just saying that I dont know if I need to own it. The first half rocks and then it slows to a crawl.

And, of course, the overly melodramatic ending where as always, Mel gets tortured or something awful.

I dunno...

Okay, folks... we've got word on more Blu-ray Disc titles and street dates from our retail sources, this time from Paramount and DreamWorks.

In terms of new release titles, Tropic Thunder is expected to be released sometime in November, followed by The Duchess, Ghost Town and Eagle Eye sometime in December.

The great news, however, is that a TON of new catalog Blu-rays are expected to be released on 12/16, just before Christmas. Hot Rod, Old School and Into the Wild have already been announced for that date, and Tommy Boy, Coach Carter and Heartbreak Kid are expected that day as well. Better still, Event Horizon, The Truman Show, Ghost, Last Holiday and Days of Thunder are all expected to arrive in stores on 12/30.

More great Blu-ray titles are expected in January, including Dexter: The Complete First Season (for Showtime), the Braveheart: Special Collector's Edition, Election and Zodiac. Election has already been officially announced for release on 1/20, and we expect Braveheart that day as well.

As always, keep in mind that these titles and dates ARE unofficial and are subject to change until they're actually officially announced by the studios in press releases and retail solicitations.

Stay tuned!
Well, its not the 20th yet!

I'm positive there was a post from them after that saying it will be delayed but I'd be hard pressed to find it.

Check any online retailer and I bet they will not show a date. I know cause I've tried the usual suspects!

My favorite movie of all times. Others tried to imitate but its still the best in my books.

Gotta love the fact that all the people on the fields of battle are real. No CGI crap. The battles are brutal and dirty. Felt a lot more real than other sword movies.

That beeing said I still love almost all sword movies that came out since then but Braveheart is the best.

There was no follow up at The Digital Bits. However, Jeff Kliest answered the question here in The Digital Bits Insider thread.

This movie was on AMCHD a week or so ago. It was very soft. Hopefully the Blu will look better...

I would love this movie. Mel Gibson needs to stop acting and start directing more films.
