Please, Monster has been getting this type of press for years.

In fact, they have gotten much worse press than that with all of the lawsuits they have leveled against small companies with "monster" in their name.

Unfortunately, even if cables do not necessarily perform better (not referrring to only Monster), there are major differences in materials and construction. That you can not argue; though you may not agree regarding the price. Additionally, the quality of the associated equipment may have to be high enough in order to notice any difference in the performance of cabling- speaker, ICs, Coax, etc.

Nice video, an eye opener for folks that don't know any better. However, we ALL follow this same principle that one thing is better than another based on brand name, where we got it, and so-on. My Sony is better than your Panasonic, my Polks are better than the best JBL's, blah blah blah.

And it was proven that materials and construction amounted to: ZERO
The test equipment passed pixel-to-pixel with each cable...you say "quality of associated equipment may...". How high of quality is there that a pixel-for-pixel transfer is noticeable?

Were you paying attention? At All?

Yes, I was most definitely paying attention. I only said that construction and materials have an affect on the price. I did not say that they would necessarily have an affect on the performance. Additionally, I sited specifically speaker, IC, and Coax cables; I did not mention HDMI. Different construction and connnectors can certainly have something to do with the weight, possible longevity of a product, etc.

It's baffling that these in-store guys think Monster is the highest level of cable you can get.

They've never heard of Ixos, Ultralink, Nordost, etc. I was in FS in 2005 and the guy was telling me "there's no better cable than Monster THX for speakers" and I said "ah I'm guessing you've never used a set of silver Nordost cables?" and he was like "who?"

Fools.

True, so true. There has to be a limit where most people stop however in the cost of their cabling as with everything else. Of course, for much of the benefit of better cabling (not necessarily HDMI, but possibly), you have to have the proper associated equipment to take advantage of any benefits.

While I would agree Monster cables are overpriced they are better quality than Monoprice period. Monster power conditioners are priced very competitively priced and are not junk.

Try and cut open any of the analog cables from Monoprice and find out there is more plastic than actual wire. I own and use a few HDMI cables from Monoprice and have no complaints as they work just fine, but that is just about as far as I would go. No I don't use Monster analog cables either and anyone who likes Monster cables or any other better quality brand knows better than to pay full price anyways.

Good cables don't have to cost a lot but if you think Monoprice is selling you a quality product for less you are mistaking. No this is not an endorsement for Monster but HDMI cables is the only thing from monoprice even worth buying.

It's funny that this site rallies around bashing certain products and is quite comical. Perhaps we can have some threads about why people shouldn't buy certain speaker lines from Polk or Klipsch or satellite speakers. Wouldn't we be doing people a favor by telling them they sound like crap. I don't think that will go over too well here, would it ???

The only argument that can be held against Monster cables is that they are overpriced from places like BestBuy. As they can be found for much cheaper if you look around. Who pays retail ???

Andrew does know something about this subject. He does own and use high end equipment. Perhaps you should read what he indicated again. He has stated that he uses Monoprice for at least some of his HDMI cables. He goes on to say that he uses other makers cables for his speaker cables, ICs and Coax cables because they are a better product that may well outperform the inexpensive Monoprice cables in his system.

I would like to think this is why already have one and only need one thread about Monster Cables, Bose, etc ..........

Believe me I'm not interested in getting personal and haven't but threads like this are so 1995 and serve no purpose other than to unite bashers. What's the argument ??? Monster cables are overpriced, which we have established 999,087,009.004 times or that Monster cables are crappy ???

I would also like to think people should be able to buy and talk about whatever product they want without worrying about B.S. even if I don't agree.

Also, is it possible to say that the only thing worth buying from Monoprice is HDMI cables ??? Certainly I'm allowed to make such a comment ???

Besides you will never have to worry about me being .............

You are 100% incorrect.

There is a MUCH BIGGER argument to be held against Monster Cables and that is in the legal arena, where they take smaller businesses with the word "Monster" in their name, an everyday term, and put them through the courts until they have no money left then offer a licensing fee to keep their name.

You need to read these threads if you think overpricing is all Monster is guilty of, seriously man. -

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums...ad.php?t=43962
http://www.bluejeanscable.com/legal/mcp/index.htm

Then take a look at this one - http://www.engadget.com/2009/01/13/m...minigolf-suit/

Monster, due to MASSIVE ONLINE OUTRAGE, has stopped it's ridiculous lawsuit against "Monster Mini Golf". They cost them almost $200,000 in legal fees and when MMG had no more money they offered to settle with them for $100/month/franchise licensing fee to use the word Monster in their name.

IT'S MINI GOLF FOR GOD'S SAKE!!!

Everyone should be writing to Best Buy, CC and Future Shop in a professional manner to tell them they no longer wish to see them carry a brand from such a crooked, greedy corporation.
