1] Yes 'coz it will feature 24-bit DTS-HD MA (DTS 1.5 Mbps core) instead of 16-bit Dolby TrueHD (448 Kbps core) 2] Sony should have released the BD as they can do a better job with the release. 3] Who cares. Last edited by lgans316; 01-14-2009 at 10:00 AM. |

i'm not that happy with it, but not because of the reasons listed. this article does a good job of summing my feelings up:

i think you're missing the OP's point. different studios release their movies with different choices (i.e. sound options, 25gb vs 50gb disc, etc etc). not all studios are the same when it comes to releasing blurays.

Far out a double dip again? Gosh seems like all Blu-ray releases will eventually get a double dip. Look at how many Blu-rays are out there with no specail features ported over. Eventual double dip. I think I can hold out on this one though I didn't think it was anywhere as good as Casino Royale.

BD-50's are the standard for Day and Date releases. I know of almost no studio's who put out BD-25's for new releases except maybe something like Magnolia on some obscure asian flick type situation. Plus, who really cares if they put on DTS-HD MA, TrueHD or PCM it's all lossless. The only one to worry about would have been warner and no lossless. All studios have gems and all studios have turds. Makes no diff to me who releases it.

The question is sort of odd... MGM has always own the rights to the BOND series... SONY was doing distribution and then it went to FOX... so basically it is FOX releasing the title under the MGM label.
MGM/ FOX seemed to do a fine job on the classic BOND films with the image quality and restoration so I don't think there is anything bad with the MGM release. |

Not that I plan to buy this, but from my experience Sony releases are average PQ and AQ at best. Ironic since their the ones who got this whole Blu-ray thing started. I think MGM has the potential to make better Blu's the way Universal and Disney do. I will rent it before deciding if I want to buy.
