So my speaker upgrade project from Bose to Polk's are starting to get more expensive than I thought. I knew what I was getting into, but some items I was not expected to upgrade. With that said, I will segment into my question. Has anyone on here replaced their speaker jumpers plates on the back of their speakers from their binding posts? If so, did you upgrade the plates or use speaker wire?
Here is an example of the jumper plates I have seen: http://www.linearinterconnects.com/jumpers.htm My new fronts are Polk Audio RTi A1's. I am actually going to bi-wire them with Canare Star-Quad 4S11 cable (banana to bi-spades). I was going to go with BlueJeans Cable, but I found this place that is actually a little cheaper and uses Techflex sleeving on the finished product. http://www.heartlandcables.com/shop/...roducts_id=238 |

If your intent is to bi-wire it would be a waste of money to purchase jumpers as these are removed for bi-wiring and bi-amping.
Edit> unless you're thinking for your surrounds, center etc, in that case I don't think this would add much (if anything) performance wise. Last edited by CasualKiller; 01-15-2009 at 01:50 AM. |

I'm all for "tweaks", as in many cases they make a definate audible difference or just make sense to me. Things such as upgrading your speaker wire/cabling can demonstrate significant aural improvement. As can introducing your system to better interconnects, replacing the standard power cables and perhaps replacing your standard wall duplex outlet with a hospital-grade one.
However, one's system has to have the capacity to recognize those tweaks. Most systems that I see on this site (including mine to some extent) do not have that ability. So many tweaks or perceived improvements turn out to be nothing but placebo-induced wastes of money. I think with the system you have you would not hear any improvement with the inclusion or introduction of higher-grade jumpers. Save your money and buy a new Blu-ray disc or a Vinyl LP or an SACD.
