Do I need those jumpers for biwiring?

They are there if you use a single wire running to one set of speaker terminals. If you do a bi-wire (single wire set up as or 2 sets of wires) or bi-amp the cables run to both sets of speaker terminals. In that case the metal jumper plates need to be removed.

If you are not bi-wiring or bi-amping your speakers, do not remove them. They allow you to connect the one set of speaker wires to either the high or low inputs on the back of the speakers.

For bi-wiring or bi-amping, you remove the jumpers because one set of speaker wires will be connected to the high inputs and another set to the low inputs.

If you are not bi-wiring or bi-amping, what is better? The terminal jumper plate supplied with the speaker or an actual wire jumper?

My guess is with a good quality jumper cable that it would be better than the plate; that is also what I recall being told. I have used some excellent jumper cables in the past with my rear channel speakers but I never took the time to make the actual comparison.

Would you say something like high-gauge gold wire with spade terminals or what? I have jumpers on my new Polks but I haven't touched them yet because — well — I'm in the middle of about 100 other projects in my life right now, but it'd be good to know.

I can't say for sure. Mine were professionally made for me by Zu Cable using some of their best wiring that they use as speaker wire (when I used Zu cable speaker wires) and also from Themusic.com when they supplied me with jumper cables that they had made from the Nola Black Orpheus speaker wiring that Nola uses; these were supplied with my Nola Reference LCR center channel speaker.

I do not think that you need gold wiring. Some good copper shielded or silver shielded wiring or the same wiring as your speaker wiring that you use should probably be fine. You should be able to use bare wire, banana plugs or spades for connecting to the speaker terminals.

That is funny Beta ! Real top of the line stuff , Hek ~ almost feel I should downgrade to that !

Those speakers are nice but I will have enough bass without the subs in those towers !

But, you would probably not need a subwoofer to play stereo music with those speakers.

I see. Well thank you for the input regardless. I think if I used spades, I'd be able to slide them to the underside of the posts and still get a nice connection and not interfere with the bananas I have now, and to keep a really clean look. In essence I would simply be doing what the factory jumpers are doing, but with wire instead of a contiguous sheet of flat metal. That's why I brought up that kind of terminal. I am currently using 14AWG for my speakers.

That's nuts! (in a good way) Part of me likes it, though. I could definitely do something like that as well, as I am utilizing bananas right now with my new gear.

I have two 15" powered (300 watts RMS each) built inside my front Def Tech super towers and I still have 4 additional subwoofers. I have set up the stereo option in my HT room so that all 6 subwoofers kick a$$. Everything has been adjusted and tweaked to death. I go through my CD, LP, DVD-A, and SACD collection every night and they sound so much better than I remember them.

In my 2-channel room, I replaced the tweeters with silk dome tweeters, added two super tweeters, and a DIY 12" subwoofer, even though the vintage Polk speakers have two 10" passive radiators. I am already thinking about adding a second sub to that room.

The jumper plates that came with your speakers don't need to be replaced with specialty jumper cables. If you aren't bi-wiring or bi-amping your speakers, just keep the jumper plates that came with your speakers in place. DO NOT REMOVE THEM.
