Default any stories about movies filmed near you?

I thought this could be a cool thread. I think it's interesting to hear the behind-the-scenes type stories from the locals. I have a few:

Lucky Numbers, they filmed one of the snowy scenes at night in Sacramento and we were out to dinner near there that night. We got to see some of the camera crew, but no cast

XXX, they filmed the intro bridge scene on Salmon Falls Bridge, it's about an hour from my house. They had most of the roads up there shut down, so it took forever for us to take a side route. I wished we could've gotten close enough to see that vette flying off the bridge!

When i lived in south florida i remember they were filming on the highway right next to the place i worked at...2 fast 2 furious....i remember driving by and seeing the yellow and purple cars parked.....i think they were filming the scene when they were both racing to get that dudes cigar from the ferrari....

they film several movies here (Spokane, WA) every year. most people have never heard of them before though.. forgettable films really. But it's cool to know that Samuel L Jackson is in town for a couple weeks and has been spotted around town at local restaurants.

to bad they didn't film Snakes on A Plane here.

Filmed Tin Cup right here where I live....Saw some of the filming as a golf gallery spectator (extra) in a few scenes......Kevin Costner was very nice and gracious with all the fans....too bad Don Johnson was such a prick, I really liked him on Miami Vice back in the day!

Gran Torino was filmed about a half hour from me.

An upcoming film called "High School," starring Michael Chiklis and Adrien Brody was filmed where my wife went to high school, about 45 minutes away. There was also shooting done at a house around the block from my in-laws.

An upcoming Rob Schneider film, "Virgin On Bourbon Street", did some filming in Detroit.

Back in the late 80's the movie Meet The Applegates had some scenes filmed here (Oshkosh WI), a few people I knew were back ground extras.

This past spring Johnny Depp's up coming movie Public Enemy filmed here as well, shut part of the downtown area down for a couple weeks re doing all the buildings 30's style. He came out every night & signed autographs for the masses, one of my buddies kids met him & said he was really cool.

Patch Adams was shot in my home town, and when it was being shot I saw Robin Williams in Harris Teeter...and my mom would not let me approach him because she thought I would be annoying.

But she was probably right, I only knew him from Hook and Jumanji at the age I was LOL.

I used to work near LAX and they close Imperial Hwy. right next to us to film Live Free Die Hard and Hancock. My old boss has spent shell casings from the blanks used on the set.

Also, I went to John Burroughs Junior High where they filmed I was a teenage werewolf.

I live in Salt Lake City, Utah. It seems like there is always something being filmed here. All of the High School Musical movies used East High and Murray High School for the indoor sets.

Dumb and Dumber was filmed here. I've eaten in the restaurant where Jim Carrey imagined fighting with the waiter.

Back in the 80's, a teen flick called "3 O'Clock High" was filmed in Ogden, Utah. Savannah Smiles was also filmed here waaaaay back in the early 80's, and I knew a few of the extras who were in it.

Two of my favorite independent films were shot all over the state. The first is a little-known movie called "Rubin and Ed" starring Crispin Glover, who I've met several times downtown. He is a really decent guy. (I ran into him renting some movies one time. He's very calm and down-to-earth. Very appreciative of his fans.) The other is probably the worst movie ever made. It's so bad it's good, and it's called "Troll 2." If you are into bad movies, this one takes the cake. Every scene is horrible in some way or another. Watch it, you'll see what I mean.

The TV show "Everwood" is filmed primarily in Ogden, but I've seen the trailers all over the city filming different scenes and whatnot.

One of the Mission Impossible movies had Tom Cruise climbing up a rock in southern Utah.

Poolhall Junkies was filmed in the downtown Salt Lake City area and we now have a poolhall named after the film.

The 3rd Pirates of the Carribean film had a scene on the Salt Flats when Johnny Depp was marooned on the "white desert" alone on his ship. The same flats were used for scenes of "The Fastest Indian" with Anthony Hopkins, and Independence Day with Will Smith.

I'm sure there are tons more, but that's all I can remember off the top of my head. At the moment, things are happening for the 2009 Sundance Film Festival up in Park City.

Someone told me Salt Lake is considered "Little Hollywood." I believe it!

They filmed "The Winning Season" with Emma Roberts and Sam Rockwell here in Hicksville, NY. A few scenes were shot at my younger brothers high school.

They also shot "The International" with Clive Owen and Naomi Watts at JFK airport, I was an extra on that film.

And obviously, they shoot many movies in NYC, but I've personally seen the filming of Sex and The City and The Love Guru ( they shot some stuff in a green screen studio in Chelsea ).

I live in Austin, TX which is Hollywood, jr.

About ever other movie is being filmed here. Some stories I have are:

My Boyfriend's Back was filmed at my middle school. (In Round Rock, just north of Austin and home to Dell Headquarters.)

I was in the Tommy Lee Jones' "Man of the House" when it was filmed on the UT campus.

I met Quentin Tarantino at a bar when he was in town filming Grindhouse (Death Proof).

One of my friends was the guy holding Benicio Del Toro's head when it exploded in Sin City.

Other movies filmed here: Spy Kids 1-3, Dazed and Confused, Office Space, The Ringer....pretty much anything by Robert Rodriguez, Richard Linklater, and Mike Judge.

Well, First Blood was filmed somewhere in Western Washington state.. so was the Sandra Bullock movie 'Vanished' (she disappeared at a Texaco in Snoqualmie).
