You'll be glad later that you future-proofed.

I doubt 2001 is a movie will will go OOP as for as long as 4K physical media is around and in all likelihood it will get cheaper too.

It sounded to me from the description that Warner Bros issued that the standard blu-ray would be just the single disc with the film. Not including the second blu-ray with the bonus features.

Anyone else concur with this opinion?

So glad WB remasters their blurays along with the UHD. I wish all studios did this.

Does the remixed audio come with this too?

After what they did with The Matrix, I'll wait to see how it actually looks.

Are the other Kubrick films (Clockwork Orange, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, etc.) expected to get 4K scanned Blu-rays too, or just 2001?

LOL with a horrible '90s Photoshop glow filter for bad measure.

It would be nice if Warner released the remastered Blu-ray discs of UNFORGIVEN and THE MATRIX as standalone releases.

Great, now they start releasing separate remastered 1080p blu rays, after I get a UHD player.

I only recently learned the fun trivia bit (maybe even from this forum, I can't remember) that in this shot from the cover, they hid the camera's dolly tracks right in plain site. Now it just feels wrong if I see them edited out.

Also, yes, the glowy airbrushed haze looks wrong, too.

The magenta push in this picture is funny, considering everyone crying out that the corridor in the 70mm release trailer isn't "pure white." It's not pure white here, either.

Nor is it in most printed photos I've seen.

Keep an eye on ebay, people who pay the inflated 4k prices often off-load the discs to try and off-set the cost. You won't get a case, but you can swap it into the case you already have for the old disc.

Cover art is sooooo much better than the 4k release.

I'm so happy WB is releasing the remaster on Blu-ray. Provided they don't botch it like The Matrix BD, I'll happily pick this up. Hopefully this is the beginning of a trend.
