Mitsubishi WD-60735 60-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV - HELP - Blu-ray Forum

thinking about grabbing this... anyone have it or know someone that has it? How does it stack up... I really cant decide if I want to go Plasma, LCD or DLP... i love the biggest picture but dunno if the "more grainy" pictures i hear about would bother me... so can anyone help please?

costs a little more but more financing options it seems on Amazon

and i see the extended warantes dont cover bulb replacments so do you all see them as being worth it?

Bigger is ALWAYS better.

IMO,...DLP's are very good. I think the picture is brighter,...and more lively than LCD,...and a lot smoother than Plasma.

Go with the LED dlp if you are going to go with the dlp technlolgy.

It eliminated the need for a lamp replacement. It also eliminated the color wheel.

So that would be the way to go for dlp
Unless you understand that if you dont that you will have to replace a lamp at some point in time. If you dont have a warranty those can be in the range of 200 bucks.

My extended warranty on my dlp covers lamps. I thought most of them still did?

not the ones listed on Amazon... i really think this will be the one i get as that had been my concern, the bulb and color wheel problem.... thanks so far everyone.... do the blacks still look grey on these?

Per Consumer Report's latest review of warranties for TVs, they recommend it for RPTVs, as they have a ~18% defect rate (as long as the warranty doesn't cost more than 15% of the price of the set).

Huh? Not sure what that statement means. Plasma is currently the highest rated, most natural picture available. With nearly instantaneous response times, plasmas offer a smoother picture than all but CRT.

I have this tv and I like it alot. The bulb replacement is only $100 from Mitsubishi but I see so many post about the older DLP bulbs which did cost between $200 and $250.

I currently own the Mitsubishi WD-60735 . The picture is stunning. I also own 3 LCD HDTV's. The DLP is much better. The darks are much better. I shopped for plasmas and LCD's as my main TV but the plasmas seem to have the worst picture quality. The LCD is good but the size I would want would be too costly. Also my Mitsubishi WD-60735 is 3D Ready!

The Blacks are just that on a DLP, BLACK. I would recommend this TV or the Samsung, either way you will not be disappointed. One thing though, when you first get it home you will need to tone down the Picture Brightness. It is far too bright right out of the box and actually hurt my eyes when an all white scene came on!

Both of these have a Great Picture. Wait untill you get to see HD sports or a Blu-Ray movie, it is awesome.

I picked up the 65" 735 about a week ago. So far i am very happy with it. big improvement from my old sony 720P set. The only issues i have with it are that the fan seems to run a little loud. If there is no audio comming out of the tv i can hear it running from about 10 feet away...not a deal breaker for me just a little annoying

I dont have the color dialed in quite perfect yet...flesh tones seem to be of just a little bit...but for me just doing it with no proper equipement i am more than happy with this set and would have no issues recommending it to anyone.

bulbs only cost $99 for this TV.

I only paid $1180 last week for the 65" at ultimate electronics. Dont let changing a bulb once every few years keep you from picking up this TV. Heck the owners manual even says to change the bulb you self...they suggest that you save the money of a service call and show you how to do it.

That said if you can find a LED the same price i would pick that up...but i dont you will find one that cheap.

hello everyone. i'm new here. doing research on blu-ray players.

i just bought a mitsu 65736 from tiger direct for $1540 out the door (that $1200 price above is darn good.... anyway).

for the money, this is a darn good TV. its not as good as LCD. the blacks are not "BLACK", they are just black. and there is some "bleeding". but these are small issues. the picture is not as detailed/stunning as the 2 32" lcd's i just got. but for the money and size, the picture is pretty darn good (so far, the only HD source i have is CBS, NBC and ABC, over cable).

here is a crappy pic. and the makeshift setup, am using for now.

Everyone see's things differently. To me,...DLP has the best picture for the money. It is as "natural" as Plasma,.....and to me, Plasma looks grainy. Of course,......in all cases,...it depends on how well the set is adjusted. That can be a trick in itself.

Response time ?

No human eye is going to notice the difference in response time between these 2 technology's,....we are talking "ms",.....not the load time of dial-up versus DSL. 99% of people won't be able to tell the difference between 1080i and 1080p,...let alone response time. I also tend to keep TV's a long time,....and use them a lot. Plasma,...when it starts to fade, you have to buy new,...DLP,....replace the lamp,.....the color wheel if it goes,.....and you have a virtually new TV picture. For a lot LESS than Plasma.

I got mine on black Friday weekend for $900 Best bang for the buck TV IMO. I wouldn't trade it for anything a lot better than the POS Samsung i have in the other room that i paid $1,900 for. Every time i go into a Best Buy, Circuit City, hhgregg and i see a f#cked up TV it's always a Samsung. I will never ever give that company another dime.
