Yeah. I'm sure QT can restrain in his QT nature for the sake of the property Rated R can work for ST. It's odd but it can work.

I hope this isn't bullshit. I don't wanna see a profanity ridden Star Trek but violence wise...hell yes!

If we're talking Battle of Wolf 359/Battle of Sector 001 kicked up a few notches, I guess it could be okay.

Hateful Eight in space, though...

What are the odds that Tarantino makes it through the publicity tour and release of OUATIH without some more comments he's made in the past or during them coming out to make him unhirable for a "traditionall diverse and inclusive" franchise like Star Trek?

Star Wars is still a "family friendly" franchise, the coarser language in TLJ notwithstanding, so we're still probably a long way off from harder content.

Star Trek, on the other hand, has fallen down the pop culture ladder and, as a result, its audience is more mature. Also notice that Discovery had some gore, f-bombs, drug use, and brief nudity, so it's already creeping into this territory.

Why is there an assumption that an R-rating will make Star Trek better?

It's not like fans have been suffering through decades of PG crap waiting for the real deal.

My collection is full of R-rated movies, but I've never watched a family-friendly franchise and thought 'you know, this would be better with blood spurts and f-words'.

If Tarantino wants to make a space adventure in which every other word begins with 'f' or 'n' go right ahead... but why does it have to be Star Trek?

Why does society always want to take something (relatively) innocent and dirty it up a bit (or as in this case a lot)?

Perfectly said. What is the tangible benefit of an R rating? So Hackatino can add gratuitous violence, f-bombs and nudity?

What the !@#$ for? Its a Star Trek movie. Just stick to the basic formula that has worked since like 1965? Why? Why? Why?

I'm only a few eps into S1 of Discovery but there's already been a healthy splodge of gore and someone saying "shit". The horror!!

These movies have really gotten Spock's blood lust down but have dropped the ball on his filthy mouth.

Many Star Trek fans didn’t like the direction Deep Space Nine took the franchise, but looking back, DS9 is my favorite of them all.

I keep hoping this idea will just go away. An R rating does not fit into what Trek is about. There is zero reason why there needs to be an R rated Trek.

I'm a big Tarantino fan but this just does not sound like a good idea for many reasons.

Tarantino's style is great for the right moods but yes if he's writing it in anyway he's the wrong fit. ST can't afford another misstep like Beyond if it wants to continue being a viable film franchise.

The F word will follow later in the season. I think even twice in one episode. Oh no!
