Default Ok I *think* i have a setup nailed down.

I'm getting the onkyo 606 reciever, polk rm6750, polk monitor 50s, and a cs1 center. Should i get a different sub or will i be ok? I definently want the best bang for the buck but i don't want to just upgrade later when i can just get it now since i do have funds availble.

I am totally new to this side of blu ray so bear with me. This is just pretty much what i got from another members suggestion that i found. Any help/suggestions are much appreciated.

EDIT: So apprently clicking on subwoofers in the audio section was a good idea, so i'm going to ge the Elemental Design A2-300 if you guys think it'll that big of an upgrade over the sub that comes with the 6750, or maybe i should just get 4 6751s and the sub instead of hte rm6750?

i have a question relating to this. since the 6750 is a 5.1 by itself, do you just use the fronts as mids and surrounds like normal and not use the center channel? so youll have the cs1 center, 50's up front, 6750 speakers mid and rear and whatever sub you choose for a 7.1 setup? i was thinking about getting a setup similar and was confused about this..

on a side note:
just ordered my ED A2-300 sub today, so i should have it in about 4 weeks. cant wait!

Instead of buying a 5.1 setup where you won't even use a couple of the speakers, why not use that money towards a better sub? You could even buy the Polk RM6751 satellite speakers (the same as is in that set) if you wanted. It just seems like a waste to pay for a 5.1 setup and then potentially not use 1/2 of it.

The eD is an enormous (literally) upgrade over the 50w Polk RM6750 sub.

it seems like you are pretty much in the same boat as me. It also looks like you nailed it down as to how it's suppose to be set up.

last question, this is the current setup i have http://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-HTS-GS...2737696&sr=1-1

do you still think i should upgrade the satellite speakers? The only reason i bought that system was because it only ended up costing around 80 dollars shipped. I've also had it for 2 years but i figured it was time to upgrade.

Thanks for the help so far.

Each RM6751 speaker costs about $50 shipped. So, $200 for four of them, instead of the regular set that can be had for $200, plus a sub and the CS1. That's around $650. For the same price, he can get the whole system (with the sub and extra center speaker) and use the sub and center elsewhere (like the center for the sixth channel). You can also sell/gut the sub and use it on a DIY sub if you wanted too. It's not a waste.

Who buys stuff at retail? There's two different ones up on eBay right now for just the RM6751's.

However, to me, if you're not going to use most of the set, then your money is better applied elsewhere to buying better quality, which was my point. Knowing what I know now, I would've never bought the RM6750 for my own use. I ended up only losing out on about $40 once it was all said and done, and used it for about 6 months. However, if you skip what is for many people a temporary upgrade, your money in the long run ends up being better spent.

OK, I know its not overly popular, but why not get some sony speakers and a sub and he could have a much better setup the 6750's would ever be and not spend $650.

Sony SS-F6000 $160
Sony SS-B1000 $49
Sony SS-CN5000 $84
Polk PSW10 $126

Total $419 free shipping could even add another set of b1000's and be below $500 and have 7.1.

ok so i'm thinking about getting the Polk T90e instead of the monitor 50s. Would this be a big step up or do you think i should stick with the monitors?
