Default Now that the final nail in HD DUD's coffin has been nailed...

Who do we bully for thinkin' their camp has the better product? Well HD DUD had a good run but thiswas the chance it had from the beginning.

I wouldn't say the final nail has even happened yet. BBC hasn't even decided to follow suit with WB and Para and Uni haven't made any official statements regarding going neutral. We definitely have great momentum and strength, but it looks like at least for now the war still rages on. The final nail would be something that would make Toshiba have to finally give up...or be forced away from every retailer. I can't wait to see this week's numbers though.

Final nail is not driven. The BDA is still cutting wood, BUT getting the nail gun warmed up.

It's not done till Toshiba makes a Blu-ray player.

I don't agree with that. I'm sure Toshiba will make Blu-ray players one day, but who cares if they never do.

The final nail will be hammered home when Blu-ray has 100% major studio support. That means that Universal and Paramount/Dreamworks have to announce that they will support Blu-ray. And that could be happening a little bit sooner than some people are thinking.

I want the retailers to just come out and dump HD DVD publically with press releases and such.

That's going to be cool.

100% studio support for blu-ray is the only way victory can be claimed. As long as the format has exclusive titles then the battle goes on

Anyone who thinks this war isnt over is delusional IMHO. Its done, everyone knows it, Tosh is just dropping inventory right now. They are done, game over, sorry thats it. Finished. Fin. Done. Period. Even if Tosh WANTED to try and drag this out the retailers are not going to allow it.

You can tell this by looking at any Best Buys High Def section. One chain may not be that important most of the time but when BB sales the lions share of HD media, and they stock mainly Blu and HD DVD has only 25% support from the movie industry.. its done.

Find your next thing to squabble over on the internet, this one has multiple forks in it. Try XBOX Vs. PS3 if you want a good argument. Just pick one, doesnt matter which, and start arguing. Someone will respond.

Retailers are dumping HD DVD, but not publicly. It would be nice if they did press releases saying that.
