Default Winner: Fedor Emelianenko

wow.

I was just watching the fight vs. "Pitbull" Arlovski, and Arlovski was picking him apart. For the first time ever, I started to think..."man, fedor might lose"...then BAM.

Fedor catches Arlovski with a right hand and knocks him out cold.

I was watching the fight, but it happened so fast I couldn't believe it even happened.

Anyone else catch the fight?!!

Didn't watch the fight, but that sounded like the Rampage Liddell fight.

I was SO jazzed for that fight, then 1 minute in BAM Rampage clocks him and down he went.

It honestly got me thinking that Liddell has a bit of a glass jaw, it's just that it's so well protected that nobody has been able to hit it until Rampage.

I just got back from watching it live. The section I was in was mainly pro Arlovski. I was the only one jumping like crazy when he knocked his ass out! I was a little worried cause Arlovski was winning that round but typical Fedor he always seems to be in control regardless of what the judge's card says.

lucky!

all the fights were great, except for the Green vs. Lauzon fight.

Lauzon did too much acting. His brother is a bad ass, but he himself was embaracing. Unfortunately green wasn't as experienced in the ground game, but he held his own.

And the Baby Fedor fight was crazy. Dude can take a punch. In fact he took too many!

Arlovski is a retard for being flashy and going for that knee. That's how he got KTFO >_> He should've just stuck with his crisp boxing.

Brock will be a few trick pony...he has brute strength and power coupled with a growing ability and he thinks he can truck through and destroy everything in his path already. He hasn't been tested by any great heavyweights (don't even get me into the Randy Couture debate, anyone!) and he will be stopped like a brick wall behind people that outskill him. Fedor has fought people as strong as Brock Lesnar and far more skilled.

The quality of UFC has consistently dropped as it has gone mainstream in my opinion... and Brock Lesnar as a heavyweight champion is really proof of that. It's all marketing. Im sure they'll keep real competition away from Brock while he herds WWE fans into the UFC. Im happy other organizations are putting on politic free fights.

ZackL, I have to politely disagree.

I don't think you give Lesnar enough credit. I mean, we all know that some fighters are merely gimmicks (ex. Kimbo Slice,,, etc).

But if you take a look at the guys Lesnar has fought, I don't know how you can say he hasn't been tested by any good heavyweights.

Frank Mir
Heath Hearing
Randy Couture

...I don't know what has to qualify someone as being a good heavyweight, but these guys are no slouches.

Lesnar was dominating Mir, Mir got lucky. Granted at the end of the day it only matters who gets the W in the win column.

Heath Hearing was absolutely man handled.

Randy Couture? well, we all know how that ended.

But those are three of the best MMA fighters in the world.

Lesnar has been tested. He has a lot of learning to do, but you gotta give the guy credit. He's no gimmick.

Totally agree With Crackin's statement. Brock is no joke. The guys a champion college wrestler so you know he has skills and though, IMO, he can use some improvement, that's actually the scariest thing about him. He's already REALLY damn good and has seriously unlimited potential growth.

As for last nights matches I really enjoyed them. I like Affliction so far and think that competition between DESERVING companies is healthy and good. Fedor is an enigma. he doesn't look like he could fight his way out of a paperbag from first glances but the man is deadly. Would love to see him match up with some UFC peeps.

I agree that Brock is no joke.

Giving him a Championship match after 2 matches {one of which he lost} that's the joke.

The reason I disagree is because when you really break it down...

Frank Mir: Took a boatload of time off due to his accident, was only actually a dominant force in MMA early in adoption. When you really think about it, what top fighters did tank destroy? Tim Sylvia? Wes Sims? Antoni Hardonk?

Heath Herring: This is really a no brainer. Sure, lots of fights under his belt but he has always been a subpar fighter. His wins are against either 1 timers in PRIDE, and his losses are sometimes even against these guys. Zero notable wins.

Randy Coture: Somehow, this guy becomes "Captain America" despite his numerous losses to average fighters and the fact he had to go to HW because he was run away by Chuck Liddell in the LHW division.

Sure, there is being tested in the first grade, but theres also being tested on the MCATS, which would include feeding Brock Lesnar to people like Barnett or Fedor. Semmy Schilt, Mark Hunt, or Jerome LeBanner might mulch him too. It's not like its really his fault though; the heavyweight MMA world is much more mediocre then it used to be now that Fedor systematically dominates it. You see the middleweight division is becoming the same way due to Silva. Not knocking their of them of course; Fedor is my favorite fighter and I started training after seeing him fight 01'.

I think it really just boils down to the fact that the UFC makes me sad due to its desire to make money and Brock Lesnar is a poster boy for it. You never see fights like Fedor vs. Mirko Filiprovic (crocop) in the UFC... never see glorious fights like Sakaraba had.

I wouldn't say Brock is a joke but if anyone is deservingly overrated it's him.

I think Mir can beat him again. Granted he looked a helluva a lot better against Nogueria than he did against Brock. Fighters like Brock always look like they're dominating a fight with their aggressive style. That's the beauty of MMA, you can always appear to be dominating a fight with an aggressive style but the moment you make a mistake a TECHNICALLY sound fighter will be beat you. That's what I love about Fedor. Had that fight gone the distance last night I'm sure Arlovski would have won but the difference was he was not fighting a chump, he was fighting IMO the best technical fighter in the sport right now.

On a side note, my wife is not even an MMA fan but she watched Arlovski's last fight where he won convincingly and couldn't believe that was the same fighter last night who got knocked out like a rag doll.

It's good to see someone who feels the same as me about Couture. I love Couture for what he's done for MMA and he's a great sportsman. No one can take that away from him but in my mind he's a little overrated too. I lost faith in him after his second convincing loss against Liddell.

Yeah Faber made pretty quick work of Pulver, . Varner vs Cerrone was a really great fight! went down to the 5th round when unfortunately Cerrone made an illegal, albeit unintentional knee to the face and the fight was stopped with only a minute left due to Varner claiming he couldn't see. Went to the cards and Varner won two of the three judges over. Can't wait to see that rematch.

I think Faber broke some of Pulver's ribs with that left hook. Classy crowd cheering Pulver at the end.

Varner was not a convincing champ, but he landed some good shots. He just didn't have enough power to win the fight. I still don't see the problem with that knee. It looked like it barely grazed him. I think he may have used it as an excuse to stop the fight.
