The Late Shift (via Youtube)-

I'm pretty sure I've seen it before but couldn't remember. I didn't think they cast Jay or Letterman very well and it seemed somewhat boring, but its still watchable. It would have been nice to see a sequel or update of some sort around 2005 to show what happened years after. Also think they could have made another after the Jay and Conan debacle. It's nowhere near as well as other HBO movies, but I am glad I watched it again.

The Lady From Shanghai (1947) - 5/5

What an incredibly crafted and even more incredibly weird film noir! May be my new favorite Welles flick! "Just tell 'em you're taking a little tarrrr-get practice."

High and Low (1963) - 5/5

A contemporary Kurosawa masterpiece. Mifune trades his armor in for a button-up and I love it!

A treat to be able to see this in the theater for my first viewing. It's screening through the 20th in honor of Burt Reynolds at AMC and Regal Cinemas.

You're killing it with your selections! I need to re-watch High and Low, maybe I can fit it into my crime category.

I did a double feature tonight. I liked this enough. The cast and characters are really enjoyable, as is the setting.

Easily Tarantino's worst film.

Signed up from Amazon Prime Video, just $90 ($2.90 US) in Taiwan for a month. Not a great selection but some stuff I want to see. Found some second chance stuff....but no Napoleon Dynamite for me; that movie was awful.

2nd Chance
1. Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas (1998)
2. Cowboys and Aliens (2011)
3. Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006)
4. Layer Cake (2004)
5. Smokin’ Aces (2006)

Funny enough Bill Paxton were in Alien and Predator movies. And both were part 2's of the series and dies in both.

The Candidate (1972)

As a young teen I had a hugh crush on Robert Redford. I saw this movie numerous times as well as others of his that came out in the early seventies. Even years later the movie doesn't disappoint.

Predator 2
(1990)

2.5/5

I like the cast, but really don't care for the setting or premise. In my opinion, it's a really ugly as well as dated film. I hate what their vision of the "future" is. In the late 80s/early 90s violent crime and gangs in large American cities were a real problem; but that isn't the case today as crimes of that nature across the board have plummeted. I'll still watch this from time to time. It's at least better than the second Alien vs. Predator film, that's for sure. Roger Ebert gave this a rating of 2 stars, so I don't feel like I'm in bad company.

Thanks! Both first-time viewing's! The way Mifune emotes through his face is a treat to watch.

Finished up the Predator movies so I am all ready for tonight!
For the first one I watched the 3D blu-ray. I know a lot of people hate conversions, but this one was remarkably well done, especially for one that was done solely for home release and not put into theaters.

I said it last month, but I’ll say it again, I love the Predator 3D Blu-ray. That’s the only way I want to watch that film. It helps that the aspect ratio is 1.85 and fills the entire TV screen which makes it really immersive. I love all of the layering of the foliage in the jungle.
