Default gonna buy my first PSP...got questions....

1. Should I go with PSP2000 or 3000? What are pros/cons for each one aside from price?

2. Battery life? How long can I play games/watch movies on it before the batteries die? How long does it take to charge the psp 100%?

3. Just have a few games I'm wanting (God of War: Chains of Olympus & Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters) so if I get the PSP2000 I'll get the GOW bundle and if I get the PSP3000 I'll get the R&C bundle....

Surely there's more questions I just can't think of them now....

if they have not fixed the screen problem with the 3000 series, go with the 2000 series

You could just as easily say they haven't fixed the issues with 2000 screen, go with the 3000.

If you're that picky, you need to go see them for yourself to see which screen characteristics you prefer.

Well considering that i just upgraded my OG PSP Phat 1000 to a brand new Silver 3000 R&C Bundle, i would say get the 3000, i honestly don't notice the scan lines 99% of the time. The pictures dont provide accurate feedback, I mean your talking at the pixel level with magnification. The new screen is super vivid and colorful, and destroys my 1000 which still looks great on its own merit. Battery Life seems pretty good, about the same as my 1000 which is good considering they went from an 1800mah to a 1200mah battery. The only other pluses to the 3000 is the microphone.

Plus if your looking to buy a PSP get it from dell who is selling them with 15% off and free s/h over $100. So for $169.99 you can get the bundle before taxes.

Also good games:
Crisis Core
God of War
Final Fantasy Tactics: WoTL
Final Fantasy Anthology (I & II)
Tales of Eternia (EU Import)
Suikoden (from PSN)
Wild Arms (from PSN)
Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness
Yggdra Union
Socom (Both)
Syphon Filter (Both)
Metal Gear Portable Ops (and +plus)
Patapon
Lumines (Both)
Castlevania: Dracula X Chronicles

Answers:

1.) Go with the PSP 3000. The difference between the PSP 2000 and the 3000 is that the 3000 has I believe a 5 times greater color palette on the LCD screen than the 2000. It also can hook up to your television. It's a little bit different as far as design compared to the other 2000. It maybe a tad bit slimmer which is always good, and I do believe it has a built in microphone.

2.) As with anything that has a rechargeable battery the more you use it the faster the battery wears down but with that said the battery maybe last about 3 hours.

3.) I use mine for movies on the go, so you can get both games, but definitely get the 3000.

Ratchet and Clank is a good game. God of War and Final Fantasy Crisis Core, are freakin amazing though. The battery life is really good, and you can always buy a spare battery and keep it with you. The PSP 2000 screen is alright it is very hard to play outside in the light. The PSP 3000 screen is brighter, has better color, a faster refresh rate, and better anti-glare coating but there is reported screen interlacing problems that appear in more abundance on certian games and movies.

Here is a wide selection of batteries.

EDIT: Read reviews online Brett Day does not know what he is talking about.
The screen on the 3000 is much better, it just the scan lines and they are not as previlant as some people post.

by the way, after owning a 1000, 2000 and a 3000 series i am pretty sure i know what i am talking about! the 3000 went back to the store! This is why sony is readying the 4000 series so that the screen issues of the 3000 can be dealt with

Im sorry but my games do not look like that on my 3000, and still besides the point, your playing games in motion not stand still like a picture that has been zoomed and magnified.

And still you need to try them for yourself to see what you like, pictures will not do justice.

does the screen issues affect God of War or Ratchet & Clank: size matters?

And if it is on movement and whatnot, what does that do when playing MOVIES??

The 3000 does not have the issues that the one poster is talking about at least not that I've seen. I would recommend the 3000. Sony made tremendous improvements to it, and as far as the 4000, there is no definitive planned release of a psp 4000. So, go with the 3000.

I'm sorry but that's not accurate. Maybe you got a defective one, but the 3000's color palette is 5 times better then the 2000. I've never seen a motion problem as you claim.

All you keep link is the fact that there is a problem, not reviews or anything else that says how it looks.

Yes, you can notice the scan lines in both games and movies. Yes, you can also noticed jaggies resulting from the interlace problems. But is it horrible? No. The image above exaggerates the effect slightly. The increased brightness and contrast more than make up for this. Does the new "improved" screen mean you need to upgrade from what you've got? Nah. Current PSP users are fine, and new PSP users may even prefer to get the PSP 2000 now to avoid the interlacing quirks if it really bothers you a lot.
Even the excerpt from the review with the picture that was quoted says its exaggerated a bit.
