Default Subwoofer buzzing

Hi every now and then my sub starts buzzing and it gets louder and louder. When my amps on i might add and when it does not have a signal going into it. It happened on my old amp and sub so guess its something else any ideas?

Ground loop issue. Try unplugging the sub cable- still make the noise? Try a different outlet. Try unplugging components one by one to see if it stops. There's been a few threads on this so if you search ground loop interference you'll probably get some other things to try.

Can also happen sometimes when the connection is loose. I would be inclined to say that your amp is starting to go belly-up though

Does the hum/buzz get louder as you turn up the volume? If it does, I would guess ground loop as well.

Mine use to start buzzing loud sometimes around 2 or 3 in the morning when everything was shut off and I was a sleep. I would get up and then go to any on & off light switch, flick it and the sub would turn off. Very strange.

Spoke to SVS many times about it and they (along with me) tried many things to stop the buzzing, nothing ever worked.

Then one day I noticed it no longer buzzed. Who knows why???

Never did find out what was the cause. I just hope it does not start up again.

9 out of 10 times the ground loop caused by the coax cable from the cable tv box. If your receiver is connected to the cable box somehow, disconnect the cable from the cablebox or tv and see if the humming stops. If it does you will need a filter to put on the cable.

I had this problem and had to run my cable through my surge protector which had a filter built in.
