He could not have done worse than Rian Johnson.

I liked Jurassic World 1, it’s the best of the sequels. Nothing touches Jurassic Park though, which is easily a top 100 of all time movie.

[Show spoiler]I'm not crazy about either JW or TLJ to be honest though I think TLJ at least tries some interesting things (and arguably fails at times) whereas JW is just bland. Wouldn't want either of their directors attached to Episode IX. I liked TFA a lot more the last time I watched it so I'm cautiously optimistic Abrams will deliver.

Edit: Above is off-topic and I in no way, shape or form want to start a TLJ debate in here.

Picked up the Target Exclusive edition today and was surprised to see that its actually the standard 4K case packed into the slipbox with the gallery book instead of the usual digipack.

Not complaining as this seems to be the best of both worlds. Eventually I'll want to combine this set with the 3D disc (which I also picked up) in the same package which should be easy once I snag a new 4-disc case to replace the current.

(Exclusive disc being in a paper sleeve is a total bummer though!! HATE it when retailers do this.)

Have you ever found a place to buy 4-Disc 12mm cases? The ones that came with Deadpool 2 are my favorite, a double disc case with a 2-Disc flipper. Love it but I can’t find them to buy anywhere...

I’m still waiting on mine shipped from Target. I got my shipping notice Friday and I’m still waiting for it. First it was supposed to be here on Wednesday and now it’s Thursday.

My eternal quest for a source of 12mm 4-disc flapper cases continues. Only FOX seems to use them with releases like Logan and (as you said) Deadpool 2.

Finding a storefront that sales both those and replacement steelbook inserts (both single and double) would be a holy grail but things aren't looking good.

Do your disc usually arrive from UPS without damage? I feel like most of my packages arrive from them looking as if they were used for football practice.

Mine arrived completely flat today in a thick paper envelope. No damage whatsoever

Got myself both steelbooks today - the silver blue and 5 movie. The 5 movie is the nicer one, but it is as thick as the single film edition. Must have stacked all discs.

Hollywood screenwriters are becoming increasingly dumber.
What's so bad about it? It's better to give the dinosaurs a chance than watch them all suffocate in the mansion. That had to be a truly traumatic event for a little dinosaur loving girl even without knowing she's just as much a clone as they are.

Just watched this for the third time, first time at home. First of all, I want to emphasize in this 4K forum that this is one of the most impressive 4K presentations I've seen. I admit that I've skipped a lot of eye candy garbage but out of what I have seen, I'd put this up there with IT as my favorite non-catalogue release presentations. The lighting in this especially really is phenomenal. I will say that seeing FK footage compared directly to JP footage in the extras is very flattering to JP. The taller frame seems tailor made for dinos.

Rest of my post is film-related rather than specifically in reference to the UHD so I'll spoiler it (there are some story spoilers in there too):

[Show spoiler]I gotta say that I think my having called the film itself trash earlier was too harsh. I was engaged all the way through even though I was worried that I was watching it again too soon. I'm more convinced than ever than its film fundamentals are superior to TLW's, the only other film that comes close to the original IMO. The villains are indeed very broadly drawn but growing up on Bond villains seems to have inured me to those kinds of characters. If anything, I appreciate that the film doesn't waste time or insult my intelligence by pussyfooting around their intentions. You also get to see all the cartoonish villains eaten so there's a nice payoff too. The music is largely forgettable but I do like the melancholy versions of both the JP and JW themes.

The film's greatest strength IMO is its ability to extract some pathos out of the very cold first JW. The footage of Owen working with Blue and other young velociraptors and the way it's incorporated into the FK story humanized (?) the Blue character far more than anything in its predecessor. It reminded me of something from one of Reeves's PotA films and I consider that very high praise. The scene where the partially tranquilized stegosaurus has a tooth ripped out is brutal and a rather cruel call back to the triceratops scene from JP. And then finally of course there's the shot of the brachiosaurus that references the first reveal of a full dinosaur in the original; I admit that I missed the front feet going up in the theater and that shot really is poignant when you think back to seeing a photo-realistic dinosaur for the first time as a kid. There were actually several of these kinds of shots in the film if you were you looking for them and it was only with the ability to rewind and pause that I caught them all.

As a scope fan, I dig the fact that this was shot in the wider & more expansive 2.39 AR (last one was 2.00) ...

Just watched this and uh... I kind of loved it? I'll have to go read the movie section thread to see why it's so divisive, but I thought it was a fun little JP movie for 45 minutes and then a very fun horror movie for 80 minutes. It's extremely different for sure, but after 4 movies of island adventure I'm fine with that. The genetic creature horror movie angle is a solid one, and the "final" movie has one hell of a setup. Also extremely well directed, visually.

The 4k disc is a stunner and truly an HDR and WCG showcase. I popped in the normal BD afterward and was immediately turned off by how flat and blanketed in beige it was. This might be one of the most obvious wide color gamut improvements I've seen, it just smacks you in the face as soon as you look at the BD. I did have some significant banding in the opening underwater section though, not sure what's up with that. I did not see it on the normal BD. This could be equipment dependent, but when I saw it on Hunt For Red October several people backed me up.

Not for me, have you updated the LG firmware to correct elevated blacks?
