Default G.I.J.O.E. - No Longer a Real American Hero??

Am I the only one thrown by this??? I just read about some character posters on another site and it had a plot summary in which it says the story revolves around a European-based military unit known as Global Integrated Joint Operating Entity (G.I.J.O.E).

When I was a kid, the tag line for the action figures was: "A real American Hero." I know it's the studio being politically correct, but still.

And no, this is not another "hollywood is raping my childhood" thread, I'm just curious if this annoys anyone else as it does me. Next thing will be they'll want to rename Capt. America.

G.I. J.O.E. ever since the cartoon was always more of an international Peace Keeping Force. Not just an American group. So I think some people are over-reacting to some of the plot aspects that have surfaced. I see it as the same over-reaction that the die-hard Transformers fans had to that movie.

Re: Captain America.

Captain America stands for what Ameirca should be. What it aspires to be. Not what it is.
So they really don't have to change who that character is. He's from the 40's, when people loved the U.S.A.

I heard GI Joe was going to be a real international hero.

Why does Hollywood continue this vicious assault on our childhoods?

That wasn't the reason the movie was craptastic though.

The script started out w/ the European angle but fans rightfully pitched a fit on the rumors and Hasbro stepped in. They make it the AMERICAN Joe we all remember or Hasbro leaves and takes the characters with them.

Besides, any of you know what the "G.I." stands for???

Let Klaus and Pierre fight for Europe (till we get there), Joe fights for America.
