Default pffft guitar hero... who here plays REAL guitar?

Okay, not dumping on GH here because I got a copy of GH3 and a les paul for my PS3 (though I must admit I don't play it too often ) But I want to know who here plays real guitar, be it acoustic or electric. I have been playing on and off for several years and earlier today I happened to find a old webcam and managed to locate the software to use it. The audio / video quality is not so good and I am limited to 60 seconds of recording but I figured I would try it out.

So, I made a couple clips, playing a couple famous Metallica tunes (probably poorly) and posted them up on youtube for everyone to make fun of... err.. to see

If you want to see me attempt to play like the masters, here are the links:
Harvester of sorrow second half intro and some Seek and Destroy intro

I play with a cheapo dean ML-x (think Dimebag's guitar) and run it through a Epiphone Valve jr head and half stack. Distortion with the help of a Metal Muff.

So... do you play a real guitar?

Can't play real guitar, but then again I've never really tried.

I can finish half the songs on world tour on expert though!

Not bad for 36 yr old dad who plays maybe an hour a month!

I know a couple people that do. They are naturally musically inclined. One is in a band and the other plays for fun.

I don't but my wife wants to learn.

I play bass:

Have a Fender Precision P 4-String & an Ibanez SR506 (6 string)

Fender Rumble 100-Watt bass amp
Ibanez BC5 chorus pedal
Dunlop Crybaby Wha 105q
Ibanez DS7 distortion
Ibanez PM7 Phaser pedal
Ibanez DE7 Delay pedal

Clearly I have a thing for Ibanez

I have a decent Jackson guitar. I was taking lessons a few years ago when my knee blew out and I realized this guy wasn't a good teacher at all. Hadn't relally looked for a new teacher and still can't play

Eh, I play the piano. Very little guitar. I'm an awesome Guitar Hero player though.

I've played guitar for 9 years. Played in a few bands, but right now I mostly play stuff at home, recording and whatnot, or play for the praise band at church. I used to have a 1981 Gibson Exploerer. Man I absolutely loved that guitar, but had to sell it a few years ago to help with the rent. I was really close to crying, haha. I also play piano, drums and bass, but guitar is my main thing. When I play Rock Band I prefer to play drums, since a lot of the songs on there I can play on a real guitar, and it freakin' screws you up because you want to play it the real way, but I don't know many songs on drums, so that's a lot easier.

I've never played Guitar Hero but I have been playing guitar for over 20 years now. At the moment I own 5 guitars and my trusted favorite one is my Gibson Explorer.

Does this count?

Lotus (Fender generic) four-string, custom Seymore Duncan pickups, custom knobs, Blue Steel strings. Started playing in 1996; played through about 2001; don't play much anymore, but still keep her polished and "ready" for when I resume. I'm a big fan of metal (duh), classic metal, funk, blues, classic rock, virtuoso style shredding (Satriani, Malmsteen, Vai, etc.), and anything that is solid from a technical standpoint.

I just started playing RockBand 2 after years of being anti-guitar games.

I used to play guitar alot in my teens & 20's. Played with some bands or people here & there. Got tired of bouncing around. Things would always fall apart

I still pick it up every once in awhile. I completely suck at Guitar Hero or RockBand though lol I can't unlearn years of playing.

I bet a lot of "us" are the same way. I know how to play a lot of the songs on RockBand — or at the very least I know in my head what notes should be playing — but then when it comes time to play the game, you're trying to play what you think you should be playing on a real guitar. I prefer to play the songs that I don't know for this reason.

You got your tone/overall sound very similar to the actual song. Nicely done. A buddy of mine and I used to play Seek and Destroy all the time. Good times.

Nice bass

this is what I have, very basic but I am also a basic player. I figured I will upgrade to something better as I get better at it

I just picked up my first guitar a few weeks back, I haven't had much a chance to play it thanks to midterms but I really wanna learn to play.

Oh, I love playing RB and GH, can do expert pretty well on drums and guitar but sadly, it doesn't translate into real life

Sweet axe! That is my favorite type of pickup arrangement right there.
