a terrible top 10 list...just terrible. i'll let you guys be surprised by the top ten

(searched..didn't see it posted)

anyone else agree?
[Show spoiler]because i think looney tunes not being number one makes the entire list useless.

besides that i think their top 10 list isn't that bad. nice to see batman get thrown in there, definitely deserved it.

I am ok with Batman at number 2 but Looney Tunes behind in 3rd place, The Flintstones all the way down to 9 with stuff like South Park, Beavis & Butthead and Family Guy ahead?? I just don't know.

yeh true, i actually dont think beavis and butthead or family guy (sry blu man) deserves to be in the top 10 (maybe top 20), but overall i thought the majority of choices were good.

i didnt scroll through all 100...i'm hoping rockos modern life was on there somewhere?

I was wondering the same thing. I mean, it only lasted 2 years, how good could it have been?

It had a lot of influence...and definitely is a good animated show. Definitely top 25 in my opinion...probably not top 10.

Cowboy Bebop is a much better anime than Evangelion though...everything from story to music was amazing. And it was only 26 episodes like most anime story arcs

The Simpsons is good but doesn't deserve a top spot.

Neon Genesis next to Akira is probably the most popular Japanese animated series ever made. It will also blow your mind if you watch the whole thing! You can't make an animation list and ignore Japan.

However, this list sucks. It mostly comes off as a "personal favorites" list by some guy at IGN. It lacks any real critical value. There is also no Johnny Quest in the top 40..

I didn't go through all 100; a page for each show was just too long to wait for and go through, but I did hit up several. I didn't see anything in the write up on that site as to how they (the editors) determined why a cartoon was given it's placement. Seems like some of the old classics should have been further up the list, but that is just my opinion, of course. Many I haven't even heard of, but it has been awhile since I've watched tv with any regularity.

wow, way to go with The Simpson's in it's 20th season.

God, I hate Beavis & Butthead. Also, I'm looking forward to the day when the Japanese anime fad is over and done with, because I just can't take it anymore. I mean how is Ducktales, G.I. Joe, The Real Ghostbusters, Transformers, and Muppet Babies behind Neon Genesis Evangelion whatever the f' that is.

... and don't get me wrong, I'm no Scooby Doo fan, but there is no way that it should not be ranked in the top 15 cartoons of all-time.

... and I think Looney Tunes should be #1, but I don't have a real problem with The Simpsons being there. And I love the Batman:TAS ranking, even though it should probably be a little lower.

I definitely think Simpsons deserve number 1 they are not only the longest running animated series of all time but is the longest running primtime show ever.

An anime that started in Japan in 1995 and lasted for 1 year becoming one of the most successful anime series of its time that came out before shows like Cowboy Bebop, Fullmetal Alchemist, Death Note, Code Geass, etc. It had 26 episodes total for the series(which is the normal amount for an anime). Even to this day a lot of Japanese still love it that they are even still making movies, video games, promotions at Pizza Hut in Japan, and just about anything you can imagine. It even has a descent size of fans in America(but most of them moved onto other series). Basically if you like giant robot anime series then this is the series for you.

Heres a commercial Adult Swim made for it http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DkcCsfaPBa8

+1, to me simpsons aren't what they used to be anymore, sometimes too lame to sit through the entire episode. At least they are in HD now, man it looked good.

That is definitely an odd list and I wonder what the criteria was... I agree with statikcat that it certainly seems like 1 or 2 guys got in a room and picked thier favorites. It's almost like they googled cartoons and started picking pretty pictures.

Here are my thoughts:
Simpsons and Looney Tunes are definitely top 5 material.
Way too much new stuff up high too... not saying new stuff isn't good, but come on!
Scooby Doo should definitely be in the top 10. G.I. Joe should as well.
Muppet Babies should be in the top 20.
Tom & Jerry, Pink Panther, Popeye, etc. all should be in the top 50 too for crying out loud.
Talespin and Alvin & the Chipmunks should be higher than the 80's.
SMURFS at #97... give me a break.

I agree with simpsons at 1, but most of the top ten was a joke. Come south park, beavis and butthead, give me a break. And transformers at 23, I almost punched my computer screen when I saw that. What a joke!!!
