I'm guessing 6-10 years before DVD goes away completely.

6-10. Although the sooner the better. No more Dvd's would hopefully mean cheaper Blu's.

I say that Blu-ray will overtake it as the format of choice within the next 3 years or so BUT dvd will not be gone for good for the next 11-15 years.

How long will it be around, or how long will it be the most used media? Im sure DVD will be around for a long time after we see it leave the movie aisle at your local B&M.

While i was working for MGM Mirage (up until a year or 2 ago) all security camera footage was captured and recorded using VHS. I know it would seem like they would just use DVR type technology, but i see places like that using even VHS for a long time to make hard copies of footage and what not.

I'd say 1-5 years until Blu-Ray starts taking over, maybe a few years after that they will start becoming harder to buy in stores.

16-20 years easy.

VHS took years to die (10 give or take), and that was because it was not pissible to play it in a DVD drive.

DVD's can play in a BD drive = life for at least double the time

DVD is also a HUGE money maker vs VHS (pressing a disc vs recording tape) making a HUGE profit margin even if they sell only a few hundo.
