Definitely Day One for me. Huge Romero and Romero style Zombie fan, IF you couldn’t guess from my Blu-Ray.com handle (bit of a dead giveaway).

I imported the Cannes Cut of Dawn from Japan before the GST embargo and bought the NOTLD Criterion earlier this year.

Was going to do a binge watch of all 4 (Diary doesn’t fit with Night, Dawn, Day and Land), but will wait for this new transfer of Day of the Dead to have my Romero night.

What the f*ck! A DVD...

Initially, looking at the high price tag for RRP, I thought this release would be a new transfer. But after reading the press release (a transfer not seen in Australia before), I assume it may be the 2013 Shout transfer.

Either way, with an extras disc on DVD only, I might wait until I read what others think of the quality versus the original Umbrella release... A transfer on a BD-50 might just get me to jump in early, as a higher bitrate transfer means it should be the Shout transfer.

I'm almost inclined to buy it for that cover alone, though...

Using one of the original theatrical posters is a nice move, and I like it (much better than the original Aussie BD as shown below).

The UE cover is almost ruined by having the “Ultimate Editon - Blu-Ray + Bonus Disc” strip emblazoned across the top of the cover.
Would have been ideal to have they “Ultimate Edition” written more discreetly on the cover OR do away with it entirely, and have it on the spine or back cover.

Pretty sure Arrow used that cover as one of their reversibles.

I'm down with the cover. My hope is now that Umbrella will redo their other "Dead" films to match with those style of covers.

Dear God, the reversible cover is also gorgeous! Simon keeps hitting it out of the park.

When I win the lottery, my first investment will be to drop - oh say, 15 million in Rubenstein's pocket to buy up the rights part and parcel and release a super edition. That or sell it to Vinegar Syndrome for a dollar.

I’m glad I’m not the only one who thinks about using lottery winnings for entertainment.
I’d like to approach Stephen King and HBO to produce a series based on The Stand.
If it’s done right, given room to breathe and expanded on slightly, you could easily get 3 seasons of 10 x 1 hour episodes out of that 1400 page tome.

But buying the rights to Dawn of the Dead is also a noble thing. But I suggest you should get Criterion to do the transfer.
I’d also be happy to shell out for True Lies or Kill Bill: The Whole Bloody Affair (Unrated Japanese Cut for KB1) on BD.

Reflections of the Dead was on their previous release, according to the back art, it was listed as 79 Minutes... strangely it might actually be about Night rather than Day?

The Behind the Scenes - On Set, could be 30 Minutes if the same as previous release also.

Reflections is indeed Night-centric, it's been on several of Umbrella's releases over the years. It's also available on their Night blu.

That old 2-disc edition is just weird, surely they could have just put everything on a BD-50. It's not like Dawn of the Dead where the BD disc is chock-full already.

A BD25 plus a DVD9 must be cheaper than a BD50.
