Default How do I get my movies to look like the display at Best Buy? (that "live" look)

I'm new to blu ray and i Just bought my player. I am purchasing my hdmi cables tomorrow, so when I plugin the hdmi cables, will the video automatically look like it does at the best buy store (that cgi look) or do i have to set it to look like that?

are you talking about achieving the same picture quality as the BB display? That's gonna depend on the equipment you are using....might need some more info from ya to answer this properly. what display did you see and/or what movie was playing?

guessing you bought a 120hz LCD? that picture is created by the motion flow feature that is part of most LCD's nowadays. if you like that look, set motion flow to the setting that gives you your desired results.

also make sure you do not spend more Than $4 on a hdmi cable

What I saw at BB was clips of different movies like King Kong, Fast & Furious, etc. They had it a blu ray player on but it didn't look like the HD I see on any HD tv at sportsbars, Verizon Fios or Comcast. It looked like the picture was filmed with a home video camera almost, hard for me to explain. Is it something I change in my blu ray player menu or do I need a certain type of hdmi cables? I have 37 lcd hd tv.

I saw it today on a Samsung 750 TOC LCD at Best Buy with the same demo disc. It's the Auto Motion Plus 120Hz. It definitely draws some attention and it takes some getting used to. My Pioneer plasma handles motion 100 times better and looks a lot more realistic.

I have a vizio lcd 37 720p, I don't think it has 120hz. I didn't like the look Best Buy had, just wanted to know how they did that. Thanks for the help.

I never like the movie looking like video. I set my 120HZ motion enhancer to high only when watching sports.

Yeah...I would go for the 1080p/24fps setting with out the motion enhancement anyday if I had a 1080p plasma or lcd.

Turn the contrast, brightness, and all the other settings on high. It will look like it does in Best Buy.

Now if you want a GOOD picture. Have your setup calibrated (professionally, or if you're at all technically inclined, you can do it yourself with a calibration disc). It makes a HUGE difference.

That over the top look is to get buyers (like you) to notice the display while its under the horribly bright lighting conditions in the store.

Once you get it home, a set setup that way will not look good with low (proper) lighting.

Welcome to the marketing trap.

Film is supposed to look like film, not video.

Start with low light and the movie mode on your set.
Tweak from there.

This is a display problem not a bluray one.
