Wow, I didn't know people buy special screens to watch specific aspect ratios! I guess you can learn something new everyday! I just have the one HDTV as listed, though, I do have a small 24" 1080p from gateway connected to my computers, HD cable & a blu-ray player in the basement but I don't watch specific things down there on it and other things upstairs on the big screen.

Default Crt 30"

Hello

I have several of the same CRT 30" throughout the house; I enjoy all aspect ratios, especially those of the widest aspect ratios.

Thank You

I'm talking about HDTVs and other displays as well as projectors. The poll is for whichever display you normally watch 2.35:1-2.40:1 Blu-rays on (whether that's a HDTV, SDTV, PC monitor, projector or anything else). Yes, I know it's probably very likely that people would use the same display for all aspect ratio Blu-ray titles, but you never know - some people might have more than one display with different aspect ratios.

This thread is sort of related to the Subtitle positioning thread https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=104430

I'm a bit late in the Party, huh. I would say 16:9 for both my projection screen and television. Here is the reason though, I do watch some foreign films and that someone decided that it would be better if the subtitles are on the screen, and that anamorphic lenses are very expensive. But one question, to those that have or know users with the X10, will that projector be compatable with an anamorphic lens, since the build is the same with the IN83, which is compatable with an anamorphic lens, I would want to look around for one for a bargain (Someone at Ebay sold a panamorph lens used with 16:9 for $700, but that one is problably gone).

I actually have my projector set up with a 2:1 screen. A little unorthodox, but the concept is Constant Area Image. What I found in my room, if I went with a standard 16:9 screen 1.78:1 looked perfect, but 1.40:1 movies had less impact (which is most of what I watch). When tested setting up a CIH screen meant for 1.40:1 movies, my 1.78:1 content was too small. With the CIA screen, the total image area is similar on all movie content, so I get the same impact no matter what I watch. A little pain as far as manually zooming when switching between aspect ratios, but really only takes about 5-10 seconds.

I'm using a CRT projector. I use Constant Image Width to garner the maximum amount of raster usage.

right now it's a 106" 16:9 screen but, in the summer I'll be upgrading to a 128" 2.37 or 2.40 screen.

Currently, a 16:9 display. For years I just used my old 4:3 set. With that, I'd move closer to the TV the wider the aspect ratio was to sort of have a constant height thing going on with my viewing angle. I guess I sort of do that with the 16:9 screen too, but positioning it is more flexible so I don't really think about the positioning as much with it.

I currently only own two sets a 16x9 LCD and a 4x3 CRT, in the future I do plan on getting a projector with a 2.40 or 2.39 ratio whatever it is so I can watch those movies correctly, but for now I am stuck with what I have. I use the CRT for older full screen tv shows mostly and the wide screen mostly for Blu Ray and HDTV shows in wide screen.

I watch all my Blu-rays on my Projector with a 106" diameter screen. Tv is my 52" LCD. I never alter what the aspect ratio is.

I have a Panasonic PT-AE4000U w/ a Carada 120" 2.35:1 Criterion Series screen so its 120" for 2.35:1 then I zoom for 16:9 stuff works out to ~97" for 1.78:1.
I find the black bars on the sides to be much less objectionable to them being on top and bottom in my viewing area.
BTW I will never have a regular setup again it's CIH all the way! Once you experience it at home there is no going back. Oh and I am aware that my setup isn't a true CIH since I zoom and don't have a anamorphic lens but I couldn't afford one (lens) so I did the next best thing.

Yeah I agree once you go CIH there's no going back, couldn't imagine watching something
in scope again with black bars top and bottom
