I have been waiting so long for this. Almost purchased the French edition. Glad I waited. Speaking of classic musicals on blu, where's Damn Yankees?

Ditto. Hopefully they'll give us the original roadshow poster art on cover and menus, and present the overture, intermission, entracte and exit music properly on both and give us nice new transfers of the original trailers and production shorts.

I don't like when they combine the intermission title with the entracte music as if the intermission was nothing more than a couple minutes of music.

Really hoping they use seamless branching to allow us to watch the alternate ending attached to the film.

The first announcement right here said "expected to arrive on the market early next year."

Yes, but when I asked the Kino Lorber Insider on the Kino thread about a week or two ago, he responded Summer 2019.

Let's hope they spend that extra time on new transfers of the production shorts and authoring to enable either ending to play with the feature.

With the upcoming Fosse/Verdon miniseries and this movie's 50th anniversary there should be a decent amount of interest in Sweet Charity.

Wouldn't we love a commentary with Shirley MacLaine, Chita Rivera, Paula Kelly, Ben Vereen, Lee Roy Reams, Suzanne Charny, Toni Basil... etc? A couple years ago i met one of the Fandango girls who had lines in a dressing room scene.

The bridge (with heated lake) created for Shirley to get pushed off of got some revisions for Weird Science and the studio tram tour, but (being one of the few Universal backlot exteriors that didn't burn down) remained for decades. Last time i walked the lot i found the same path and stonework i saw on the DVD the night before. I believe I first read about that and the numerous copies of her one black dress in the pressbook.

Another detail for 60s musical fans: Charity shot in Manhattan in Spring of 1968 - if you look closely, when Shirley is jumping on a Castro Convertible in the opening credits - you can see the huge billboard (where the Marquis Hotel and Theatre are now) which is being painted over from Doctor Dolittle. It would next promote Star! which preceded Charity at the Rivoli theatre a couple blocks up on Broadway.

No updates at all from KL about content and authoring (seamless branching for alt ending)?

Someone in LA should do an anniversary screening with cast reunion...

Default Summer or Autumn

I sent Kino a message about this release. They said they have no set dates for the release but hope for late summer, or early autumn. I'm anxiously waiting for this and wish they would consider releasing it sooner. Day one purchase for me.

The actual anniversary is this spring to summer. The transfer must've been done so hopefully they're held up creating supplements??

It would help the wait if we knew we were waiting for new interviews, etc. Still hoping they use seamless branching so we can watch the movie with either ending attached instead of leaving the alternate as an extra.

Now that Fosse/Verdon is running on FX interest in this movie should build.

Did anyone else buy the Universal orchestra album with (presumably) instrumentals from the score? I have it sealed on vinyl but looking for digital/CD.

Right in the opening sequence of Fosse/Verdon: after an interesting recreation of Gwen giving valuable creative input to filming Hey, Big Spender, she's back in NYC telling Bob about lines outside the Ziegfeld... They did three years later for Cabaret. I was in one. But she's talking about Sweet Charity, which played at the Rivoli. Bob jokes the lines may be there to see The Love Bug. Gwen says The Ziegfeld has only one screen. Okay this was decades before multiplex venues, and Love Bug didn't open (at the Music Hall I think) until at least a month after Charity opened at the Rivoli.

I enjoyed episode one so far with the recreation of the Hey Big Spender scene and seeing behind the scenes for Sweet Charity. I didn't realize it was such a flop at the box office, but after fact checking....it's TRUE!

Have you noticed the catchy tune in the new iPhone commercials? "The Aloof" from Rich Man's Frug at the Pompeii Club.
