Sent an email to Amazon about the shipping delay...they offered to cancel and give a $10.00 coupon or wait & have upgraded shipping. I went for the coupon...will just re-order when back in stock.

FINALLY, the US will have a theatrical cut release of this amazing film!

I already own the Original Theatrical Cut on Blu Ray in the UK Version.
However, a US version would be cool to have as well.

Hey Jim Wilson and MGM! The Extended Cut is HORRIBLE!
I want my four hours back!
Jim, There is a reason you haven't won an Academy Award for editing or directing. Stick to what you are good at.
PRODUCING.
If not for Mr. Wilson taking the risk on a first-time director...of a western...that's three hours long...with subtitles...this film wouldn't exist at all. They didn't call it "Kevin's Gate" for no reason. Costner shocked the world, but it was Wilson who backed him.

I have not gotten anything. No shipping email or delay email. It is ridiculous.

Howdy, Ernest. Thanks for all your contributions over the years--reviews, industry-savvy posts.

A point of clarification regarding your comments that in no way is meant to detract from your larger point about those who took risks on Costner and this project. Wilson is not some major producer with a significant slate independent of Kevin and/or a term deal with a studio. He's "simply" Kevin's partner in TIG. Glancing at IMDb, all of Wilson's biggest credits are Costner starrers. Wilson's not a financier.

Per what IIRC is one of the first things Kevin says in his commentary when the Orion logo appears, the risk taker here was Bill Bernstein (then president of Orion Pictures). That company declared bankruptcy later in literally the same calendar year that Dances won its Oscars.

And circling back to ILiveForHim's comments that occasioned your response, do we even know for certain that Wilson championed the longer cut of the picture (over Kevin's objection?) for home vid release? That's the intimation of those remarks and I'm skeptical that that's accurate.

I think it's closer to the mark that the company that owns the film, MGM, knows the film is an "evergreen" in their catalog, a perennial seller on home vid. It's been repackaged and reissued multiple times on both DVD and BD and putting together an extended cut of the picture is a marketing hook to distinguish yet another release and thereby sell even more units.

Mine arrived, looking forward to watching it....I’ve never seen the film start to finish, just always catch it in pieces on a weekend afternoon

Iconic cover....but seems “dvd” quality....not really a sharp, focused image. Kind of disappointing to my eye

It's Shout, so don't go in with high expectations. They use an automated encoding system at a constant bitrate, so it's not very efficient when compared to using a real human compressionist.

I don't have it, so I can't say for sure.

Yeah, I'm fully aware of their compression issues. After hearing about their Platoon release I held off Dances with Wolves.
