This film would look astounding if it were a 4K release.

I was also just thinking this after Quick and the Dead got a 4K.

Sony also has Silverado, would be another great 4K western.

If this contains both cuts I'll get it for sure, even though I already have the US release and finally got the UK release for the theatrical cut last year. Having them together in the same set would be very nice, especially as a Steelbook.

One of my all-time favorites that I've owned on just about every format since vhs. The time has come for this to get the uhd treatment. The gorgeous cinematography, enhanced by hdr would make this one a stunner. I surely wouldn't mind the buffalo hunt in Atmos either.

Haven’t watched this since the MGM. Think I’ll stick with that. SF tends to hit the filter button more than I like.

I will freely admit I'm only in it for the steelbook. I've got a BD and DVD. Still, this film deserves a UHD release.

Never got around to importing the theatrical so I'll get this if it has it. Some nice artwork would be cool, too.

Hopefully theatrical cut. One of my favorite movies, but - it is a travesty that the only available version for a long time has been the Extended Cut.
The extended cut is nice, as another view after the theatrical...But when a movie wins Best Picture - it should be THAT version that is readily available.
While it is nice to see extra scenes in the extended version- it is NOT the version that won people over and won the Academy Award.
The Extended version is way too flabby and bloated - and completely destroys pacing. It does not "flow" like the theatrical.
(And contrary to what some believe- Costner was never involved in the creation of the extended cut. That was all Jim Wilson.)
If it has both cuts (like the German steelbook) that would be great.
But if given a choice - theatrical version is the better movie by any measure.

Well, I'm not one of "those people", beside that, I couldn't desagree more about the "flow" of the Extended Version (which "destroys" nothing) which I prefer all the way over the theatrical cut any time -- no contest there, what so ever. So, hopefully both versions scanned from the original camera negative (which I highly doubt), and mastered in 4K if possible. I do hell hope so that Shout! doesen't fu*k up the artwork with this one.

I'll be happy with either cut in Blu as never got around to replacing my dvd and quite enjoy the film so a Steel of it is a bonus.
Having both cuts on one package would certainly be the best of both worlds..

So i take it san diego comic con is officially dead now? I mean if they are announcing special edition packaging for a early 90s romantic western at it, i do believe the event has lost its focus entirely. Much as i love this movie, and sdcc, the 2 have no relation whatsoever.

Also, lame not a 4k steel. Not rebuyin(again) till new format treatment.

Movies that win the Academy Award for Best Picture should be available in their original form, not a producer's "Extended Cut".
