This is pure nonsense, imo. As somebody else has already stated, there is already a fantastic 4K sourced release that's been widely available for a good number of years now.

Arrow would do well to concentrate on classics that have NOT had blu ray releases! I mean first Children of Men, and now Robocop??? What's next, Crimson Peak?????

Oh wait...

Yes. All will be mine.

I hope to get the releases that I do not have yet, though.

Agree 100% - it's especially infuriating because, as we know, we're forced to buy every release.

Oh wait....

Whenever Arrow announce a "big" film like this the same arguments come up, and I don't get why it has to be either or. There's room for both, and that's exactly the approach Arrow are taking. I think it's great that they release both bigger, more mainstream titles as well as smaller, more niche ones. There are films of varying levels of popularity that interest me, and there are ones that don't. The ones I want, I'll buy. The ones I don't, I won't. Seems simple enough. *Shrug*

As for RoboCop, bring it on! As mentioned, the existing remastered release is already pretty nice, but there's still room for improvement so it's very much worth Arrows' (and our) time.

Some have mentioned The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and The Terminator, and the idea of an Arrow edition of either (or better yet, both) of those films... I could die happy.

I love this film and will probably pick it up for the encoding and extras, but gotta say I'd be happier if Arrow obtained the rights to something unreleased on Blu like The Hitcher or Scorsese's After Hours.

We'll definitively get 4K OCN scans of both cuts, some new features and maybe even some unearthed deleted scenes for Arrow's release for sure.

Would love to see them tackle Robocop 2 and the remake as well...but unlike Shout!, Arrow will make this release extra special.

This this this. I tease packaging obsessives here and there because it's fun, but they prop up the disc business SO much. The last thing I want is for them give it up. Keep buying, packaging peeps! Buy two copies, you know you want the steelbook too! Oh and that Zavvi exclusive? Gotta have that. Get on it!

In all honesty there are two packaging things I care about: original poster art and booklets. Arrow just happen to use both, so honestly I'm kind of a "package obsessive" for Arrow sometimes. I probably wouldn't purchase an Arrow just for that stuff, but on top of better encoding and exclusive supplements it makes for a worthy total package even for something with a near identical US release like To Live and Die in LA.

I would literally scream for joy if The Terminator got the Arrow treatment and the mono soundtrack in lossless was there.

I don’t understand?! Isn’t the difference only the restoration of censored shots? Why would anyone want the neutered version?

There's some alternate shots in the Theatrical Cut.

If it's an Arrow LE surely it's mandatory at this point to include the Theatrical Cut.

Some people would like the nostalgia of the version that they would’ve watched back in the theatre and replayed countless times on VHS.

That being said, it would be silly if Arrow goes the extra mile to give us the original Australian “M” rated version. For those who don’t know, Robocop suffered even more cuts back in ‘87 for its release Down Under. Don’t know the exact details, but it would seem to be horrific.

Anyway, this is an AWESOME announcement. This was the first “R” rated film that I’d ever seen, and it still holds up. I think I can say for everyone...

“I’d buy that for a dollar!”

I'd argue Robocop has much more love and is more inline with Arrow than the likes of Children of Men, Dark Blue and Ronin.

I'm glad they got Ronin, though: underrated. Plus, remastered, and with new extras

And I always thought Children of Men was a funny choice for an Academy title.

Mind you, I've got the remastered Robocop disc, but it's in a bit of a fugly (or 'meh') steelbook:

So, the usual boxset please, Arrow.
