Default Which speakers to upgrade first?

I know I don't have good pics in my gallery yet, but please take a look at my HT and let me know what you would upgrade and what you would keep (on a tight budget).

Fronts: Infinity P250's
Center: Klipsch C-1
Rears: Klipsch S-1's
Sub: Velodyne DPS-10

Looks really nice man ,My question would be why do you want to upgrade what are you not satisfied with,I would probably move the center either tpo center more or place it over the tv in that little slot area centered...........But then again what do I know i have my tv on 2 nightstands

I guess I just feel like I am not getting much out of my 5.1 overall. I have had all these speakers for years now and have never been too happy with them. Whether it is not timbre matching or bad placement, I don't know.

Well it depends on my tax return.

The problem with the center is that it may be too high if I place it on the shelf above the TV. I may be able to move the TV back farther on the stand and put the center on the same piece of glass in front of it.

Me personally started looking into Paradigm there sound is sweet you can get a pair of paradigm titan monitors for 600.00 at a dealer http://www.paradigm.com/en/paradigm/...4-1-2.paradigm Right now there is a special at 6th ave for 348.00 for 2.I suggest you go listen to them at a local dealer you will be amazed by the clarity and if you like towers there are also these http://www.paradigm.com/en/paradigm/...-1-17.paradigm Run you about 650.00 a pair.

I know your plight and I can tell you its due to lack of synergy (timbre matching) in your front array (your center cant keep up). My suggestion is to buy this and see how your staging begins to come together http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...al_5_1_4_.html (your center bass problem and lack there of). This center would love the 80hz crossosver. Timbre matching is very critical in a HT system. I would also advise you to take the Infinty speakers out of the cubby and give them a little room to breathe their magic into the room. You know my number give me a holla back.

Thanks for another great recommendation prerich. Do you think the 350 is better suited for my setup than the 250 here? http://www.infinitysystems.com/home/...USA&Country=US Is it worth the extra $?

I think the C25 is actually the center that is "supposed" to go with my towers, but it is discountinued. Is the newer version PC250/PC350 still considered to be timbre matched?

Do you think my fronts are the "weakest" of my components? If so, what would you recommend on a very tight budget?

I would guess that your sound is being compromised by the front speakers being jammed up against the back wall. Most speakers need some space around them for the soundstage to open up - what does your speaker manufacturer recommend?

I understand there might be space issues in the current room, but if the room is what is holding your system back, there's not much point spending money if it's not going to fix anything.

Not the weakest whatsoever...... but you could move them to the rears etc..... I just think for the most noticeable improvement you'll want to address the area that handles the majority of the audio, which is the front sound-stage........

Well, as you can see from my gallery, they have to be in that nook. The only thing I can do is move them to the front of the nook and move the TV back. The left main would still be up against the wall though. Do you think that would help?

You've gotten some good suggestions so far. But, I have a few other thoughts.

Given your space constraints, I would stack the cable box on top of the power center so the center speaker can go in the center of the shelf. Then as mentioned, move the sub out. Move the front speakers as far apart as possible & bring them out, at least even with the front wall. Center your TV stand in the space. And then, run your room correction setup again.

You should notice a difference. All of this costs nothing but your time.

Then, assuming you are still looking for improvement, your speakers need to match as much as possible. I don't think your P250's are the weakest link, at all. I would sell the Klipsch, & get Infinity's all the way around.

Otherwise, it is a beautifully put together system.

Crap, I didn't see your PS3 there. Well consider me stumped then.

If nothing else, I would still put the fronts against the outside & the sub in between.

Another option that you may or may not care for:

Switch to a strip-style power conditioner. It can go behind the entertainment center, then you can stack the PS3 on the cable box, freeing up your shelf for the center.

Yeah the center either has to stay there or can go in front of the TV, if I move the TV back in the nook more.

I never thought about putting the sub on the other side of that tower. I guess I always thought it would be better in the corner of that nook. Does it not really matter if the sub in near a corner?

Now that I think of it, the center cannot be moved over any more than it is. In the middle of that rack, is a piece of wood and the center is too tall to fit under it.

Normally, putting a sub in a corner will boost its output, which can be a good or bad thing, depending on frequency, room acoustics, etc. In your case, it will be surrounded either way. I don't think it will matter.

Maybe you answered already, can it come out & go where the DVD rack is?

That leaves you with putting it in front of the TV & pushing the TV back.
