Default The F/X Killed It.

Effects that killed a film? What was it? Which film?

not to bring this up again, but imo:

indiana jones 4

i really wish 100% live action stunts, miniatures, and models had been used over CGI. same for star wars prequels. when i can easily tell computer generation is in full swing i'm somewhat taken out of a movie. but knowing that what takes place on screen actually existed in front of the camera or with the actors just makes the movie feel more organic and alive to me. but CGI is the new thing, it's more cost effective, and it's improving every day, so that's what's going to primarily be used

Without a doubt, the absolutely worst looking cgi is in Mummy Returns when the Rock shows up at the end as Scorpion King and is half man-half scorpion. To this day it is still the worst cgi ever made...ever.

For me primarily is horror movies with the overuse of CGI. I'll take Tom Savini and his SFX group any day, any time. They just look so much better. Nothing like superb make-up and great ingenuity

+1...did they have to throw in the "people's eyebrow" on top of everything?

I hereby challenge this. Rent Peter Hyams' A Sound of Thunder and get back to me.

I agree with that also it you can easily tell its CGI and bad at that.

I was so mad about I am Legend using CGI for all the diseased people also the whole i can open my jaw wider than humanly possible just made it look fake to me, I wish they would have just done people in makeup like in the resident evil movies or something along those lines.

The Star Wars prequels. I don't recognize one important scene that actually takes place on location (fight with Darth Maul, Ben vs. Anakin, Yoda vs. Dooku).. and it really hurts the films. It's obvious when the actors are just standing in front of a green screen as opposed to the actors from the originals who actually stood in sets which were built for the scene. Also.. Yoda. A CG Yoda ruined the character. 1. He looks like he came from a Pixar movie. 2. It's hard to take him seriously. I'd rather have the puppet return from the originals then have him be all CG and flipping through the air like a Mighty Mouse wannabe.

The "Scorpion King" from The Mummy Returns. Absolutely horrid.. ruined the movie for me. One of the only things Tomb of the Dragon Emperor has on its predecessor.

I have to agree with whoever said I Am Legend, although I did enjoy the film. The "zombie people" looked so bad. It's like they came from the movie Silent Hill.

Spawn. The CGI scenes in Spawn make all those other movies you guys are talking about look awesome.

I loved the Spawn character, and if you take the CGI out of it, the movie wasn't bad. This is one comicbook character that could use a re-boot, a la Chris Nolan.

I'm going to have to agree with this. It's like they ran out of money right before doing the CG work at this point of the film.

It's funny how Spielberg said they hardly used any CGI in Indy 4 when in reality the entire movie was CGI. I hate to even talk about this movie because it makes me so mad how this movie doesn't even stylistically belong with the first 3. And on top of the fact that the CGI was quite bad in certain scenes, the movie itself sucked.
