I have an Infinity Sub-120 but its not working. It has a left and right chanel outputs on the back of it. It came with one wire that is just male to male. I dont understand how to hook this up. Anyone know what kind of cables I need to run this to my receiver?
Also anyone know was croosover frequency is? I have a knob on the back of the sub for this, its right next to the volume control knob, but have no idea what its for. Thanks! |

If its a surround receiver, then it will have an ouput called "subwoofer". Connect the cable here.
In the receiver setup menu probaply under "speaker setup" make sure to set subwoofer to "yes" On the back the subwoofer there must also be some phono inputs? Maybe also an input called "LFE". If you use "LFE" the internal crossover won't function. If you use the line-in (one of the left right phonos), then the crossover will be active. If you use a surround receiver use the "LFE" in, as all crossover ajustment will be made in the receiver. The crossover function (in the receiver) is for instance used when you use small satellite speakers and don't want them to play the deepest bass, with crossover set to 60Hz in the receiver, tones under 60Hz will be cut of to the speakers and via the DSP processor redirectet to the subwoofer. The crossover in the subwoofer is normally used in a stereo setup, when the receiver only has a line out. This signal will contain a full-tone signal, but you don't wont the subwoofer to play anything above 120Hz, with the crossover you can adjust at what exact frequency you want the subwoofer to take over, normally from 30-120Hz. If you don't have an "LFE" use one of the left/right phono in, and turn the crossover all the way up to 120Hz as all settings will be made in the receiver anyway. I hope my english is readable Last edited by Helicon; 08-08-2007 at 07:43 PM. |
