just got it. title was VERY misleading. reading through this threads posts I was beginning to think half the forum was either retarded or crazy
but now I get it.

Soooo, Marissa Tomei (My Cousin Vinny)
Tom Hanks (Forrest Gump)
and if Directors count- M. Night (Sixth Sense)

the only way this thread can work is not name an actor that calls for 20 million dollars a movie....and have been nominated for mulitple oscars (Tom Cruise)/ or have won mulitple oscars (Tom Hanks).....it should only been an actor who has been nominated for an Oscar once but never heard from again or who been in one great movie then disappeared from thought.....that is a true one hit wonder like when on comes on the radio, you know the song, who sung it but have no idea what the hell happened to the band or you even cant name another song by the artist......

Mickey Rourke was almost a One Hit Wonder until this year (just like Weezer was considered a one hit wonder until the release of the green album)

Its def. the wrong thread title, doesnt make sense to what the OP is asking....should be titled "Actor/Actress's Role of a Lifetime" or "Best Role by an actor/actress in their career".....One Hit Wonder is completely different as I described above and gave examples of below:

EX. Harrison FOrd is far from a One Hit Wonder (Star Wars, Raiders, Air Force One, The Fugitive, etc...)
Ex. Halley Berry is working towards a one hit wonder (Hit: Monster Ball, since Catwoman?, next: porno...)
EX. Josh Harnett is working towards the same (Hit: Black Hawk Down) <--might be wrong about him, correct me if Im wrong
Ex. The Entire Cast of Blair Witch (all one hit wonders....next: working construction and local plays)
EX. Leonardo Dicaprio is far from a one hit wonder (3 time oscar nominee (Blood Diamond, Aviator, Gilbert Grape)

Man. Oh Man...

DiCaprio couldn't tie Newman's shoes. He's an incredible Actor, but Newman transcends.

Thanks for the advice, but the thread seems to be doing just fine Pick an actor tell me what his biggest ONE HIT is and will all WONDER about it.

agree with Stallone with Rocky being his best role, and Jack Black but disagree with the other two....

Al Pacino - The Godfather
Ed Harris - Apollo 13 (Truman Show, Polock)

Jerry O'Connell in Stand By Me.

He's either annoying or an idiot in everything else he's done.

HEs the best in SLiders (TV) which would have made a wicked movie trilogy....lol.....he was good in the 3 scenes he was in Jerry Mcguire but the only other role that was decent was Scream 2....but I would agree that Stand By Me was the best....

If I could trade River Pheonix for Jerry O'Connell I would, is that bad to say?...lol

I know, I know I have learned to not take to heart what "rude people" say. Trying to take it easy, seems like certain people take offense or something???
