It's a shame that Out of the Shadows did so poorly. It actually was a lot better than the first film. It seems they actually learned some from the problems and complaints. Though Michael Bay still had too much creative control on things. The Turtles still looked awful but Bebop and Rocksteady were actually fairly similar in look and character to their classic cartoon version. They even tried to fix the interpretation of the Shredder. So maybe if they do a complete reboot and jingle some keys in front of Michael Bay to distract him from his "Influence" he still had on Out of the Shadows we might get something decent.

Looking forward to how they believe they'll be able to reignite the box office, as Out of the Shadows was a great effort and sequel to part 1, it's just that not enough of the first film's fans supported it in theaters. Timing is everything, so maybe a lot of them outgrew the turtles at that time.

As long as the Turtles kick ass with martial arts, I'll probably always be a fan.
Close. Half the people that saw the first one hated it and didn't come back to be disappointed again. Bay's studio does good CGI, but bad stories. They need writers and less graphics processors.

I fell asleep during the first one, and skipped the second...so I'll pass on this one too.

The original film's costumed turtles are closer to the comic book characters from Kevin Eastman than the CGI live action turtles, but as far as story goes, the newer version wins IMO for better pacing, more focus on the plot, and so on. The original, they get side tracked at the house and there are a lot of antics that don't propel the story forward.

While the look of the CGI turtles took me a few days to accept and get used to since it was dramatically different than the cartoon versions, the CGI live action turtles thankfully captured the attitude and personalities of the Turtles in many ways, and the action was excellent with the fight choreography in both films. The fighting in the original Turtles live action films was great too, especially since it wasn't CGI or motion capture, but the real actors fighting in those turtle costume suits.

As a note, Bay was only producer of the newer Turtles films, and didn't write or direct. I'm not a fan of his version of the Transformers live action films (but a big fan of the original animated Transformers series) but these Turtles films I really enjoyed regardless.

Turtles 1990 Film

Turtles 2014 Film

Turtles 2016 Film

I enjoy the original films, but was very entertained by the newest Turtles films, and hope this new reboot gets closer to the look of the original comic book characters, but keeps the great style of action.

The whole point of the turtles at Casey's grandmom's house was part of the plot. The turtles just lost splinter Raphael got the shit beat out of him and is unconscious for a while April lost her grandfather's antique store and they had to regroup. I mean the whole campfire scene with Splinter was amazing. Than after the vision they head back to New York

That's plot a plenty

I can't believe anyone thought Out of the Shadows was better than the first movie. Bebop and Rocksteady were absolutely unbearable and the Krang Shredder stuff was handled horribly.

The Fact that people like these crappy bayturtles which are insults to the TMNT franchise, is what really scares me.

What scares me is how intolerant you are that other people enjoy these movies based on comics that were meant as a tongue in cheek parody...

Yeah. That whole section has a point to it.

While the first one isn't perfect, it kicks the crap out of the bay films cuz their focus is heavy on the plot. And the action supported the plot. Also didn't dumb itself down. I hate films that dumb itself down so that EVERYONE can get it no matter what. Even if your audience is mostly kids and the whatnot. You don't have to talk down to them either.

The other issue with the CGI turtles is that it was really obvious that what they could do plot wise was hobbled by the fact they spent all the money on animating the turtles for the film. Like in OUT OF THE SHADOWS it seemed painfully obvious that they didn't fully show the Technodrome because there was no money for it. If you're using animatronics and models you're paying upfront not by the minute.

And heaven forbid someone should have the, actually, good idea of going backward and making a *real* sequel to the 1990 film. Judith Hoag and Elias Koteas are both in great shape. Doing a grown up turtles set 30 years later would be like printing money (like, why nobody ever thought of re teaming Burton and Keaton for a new Batman, dah.).

Tried to wow people with CGI at the expense of terrible casting and even weaker script.

The first was garbage and I watched half the 2nd and switched off because it felt more of the same.

I would wait 10 years and reboot this and do it properly.

The very first movie all those years ago, is still THE best one. And not just because of Nostalgia. It captures the darker and more serious tone that you want for this franchise.

Just because the characters are effectively colourful turtles, does not mean they are automatically child friendly.

If we literally had the style of Deadpool 2 used for these movies instead, (not necessarily the age rating, just more the vibe) the movie would have been infinitely better imo

But they pretty much did show the Technodrome fully, bar one piece that had yet to slot into place. The CG in general looked rushed and sloppy in the sequel whereas I thought the CG was very good in the first movie.

Say what you will about the newer movies, but they’re still leagues better than the third movie from the ‘90s.

Out of the Shadows was a blast, I hope we’re getting a proper sequel to it. Need more Kraaaang and they should have Baxter mutate into a fly.
