Quote:
(2001) Color 131 Minutes 1.85:1 Rated R

The silence has been broken... Dark, absorbing and entertaining, this follow-up to The Silence of the Lambs is an audacious success. Screen legend Anthony Hopkins (Nixon) is perverse perfection in his return to the role of Dr. Hannibal Lecter, the sophisticated killer who comes out of hiding to draw FBI Special Agent Clarice Starling (Julianne Moore, Far from Heaven) into a high-stakes battle that will test her strength, cunning... and loyalty. Meanwhile, the good doctor’s only surviving victim plots a particularly nasty revenge. Drenched in baroque terror and hair-raising visuals, Hannibal is as compelling as it is shocking. Legendary filmmaker Ridley Scott (Alien, Blade Runner, The Martian) served up this smash-hit thriller from a screenplay by David Mamet (Glengarry Glen Ross) and Steven Zaillian (Schindler’s List), based on the bestselling novel by Thomas Harris (Red Dragon). Ray Liotta (Unforgettable), Giancarlo Giannini (Seven Beauties) and Gary Oldman (Darkest Hour) round out the delectable cast.

Interesting. I'd heard Kino was working on a UHD release, but I wouldn't have guessed that this was it.

I hope it sells well enough for more UHDs to be released, not just by them, but other smaller labels...

Really cool to hear. This movie needs a picture upgrade so badly. I'll want to own this on disc eventually, but I really hope the iTunes copy upgrades to 4K even though Kino is releasing this instead of Universal.

(Actually I almost feel bad wondering about that, because I'd like any smaller publisher's venture into UHD to be successful.)

Now THIS is surprising. Wouldn't have thought this would be Kino's first UHD. Wonder if other smaller labels will start releasing UHD soon. Also curious what pricing is going to be like.

4K from Kino? Interesting.

Not a huge fan of this movie but might buy it just to have it. Don't think I've ever owned it anyway.

Interesting - Kino the first indie from North America to throw down the UHD gauntlet...

Don't know whether to order when available or wait for a UK release where Anthony Hopkins isn't a zombie.

There is at least one other, non-documentary, UHD released by an indie with "Brawl in Cell Block 99".
