The KS8000 honestly looks fine to me in a dark room in SDR with "smart LED" on low. I rarely ever notice blooming at all, and the native contrast ratio is like 6,000:1 which is pretty good. It's only in smart LED high mode, which is needed for HDR, that the blooming becomes bad in a dark room, IMO.
Indeed, HDR looks much worse in terms of blooming and flash lighting on my NU as well, but even with SDR with local dimming/smart LED on LOW, I get nasty flash lighting in the dark.

Different sets will vary though.
Yes, I could have very well been victim of the panel lottery with this set.

Enjoy bias lighting for reduced eye strain, as well. Using a usb strip of some el cheapo Chinese brand I ordered from Amazon a while ago that has gotten the job done.

I'm very sorry you suffer with that; of course, I had no idea...

Hope you stay healthy and safe!

Thank you my friend. It's sometimes a bit hard for me to find a right word in the middle of a sentence on my native Spanish so you can figure on a foreign languaje. The ones I have are a new generation pills that started to be sold on mid 2016, the other two kinds I had before the current ones were even worse.
I hate anti epilepsy pills, they make you slow, I think slow, I feel tired and groggy the whole day, I'm thinking about quitting them as I had very few attacks, 4 or 5 a year, I don't think it's worthwhile having them as the side effects are dreadful.
