Correct. If you watch the product page on this site (bluray.com), you'll see an image of the back cover. Unfortunately it says German subtitles only.

and just to confirm it's not 100% Eng friendly

no Eng subs or any hardcoded burnt in subs for French parts

I'm still waiting for mine but it says 1080p on the back cover here on this site.

yeh its ok and 1080p
and it's better than UK DVD which had some DNR

Might have to get this, rip it, rip the UK DVD and remove the sub file, and combine with the 1080p version.

the UK DVD doesn't have sub file or option for subs
subs are hardcoded/burnt in

Cheers, I didn't realise.

So, SC in Germany, but the UK DVD was Fox.

Anyone any ideas?

Haven’t seen this in ages but watching THE NIGHT PORTER now and remembered how much I love this one. Heartened to see it’s finally gotten a high def release but worried about the lack of ENG subtitles during the French sequences. Can someone give an idea how long the French bits are, or how many such scenes there are, please?

They're throughout the movie, over 200 lines of dialogue.

The french track has english speaking though.
This is a pretty good looking disc when they are in france. I was surprised as im used to the dvd and if its an upscale its quite good.
