Default Best entry level receiver besides the onkyo 606?

Does anyone know the best entry level receiver besides the onkyo 606?? Ive read on some reviews that it produces buzzing sounds to the speakers and its noticeable during quiet scenes. I was going to buy one with the polk rm6750 speaker set. Thanks

Check out:

Onkyo 606
Onkyo 706
Yamaha 663
Pioneer 1018
Sony 720/820/920

There are the Denons and the Marantz but I'm not too familiar with their stuff. I think its more expensive too.

For a few hundred more, check out:
- Onkyo 806
- Onkyo 877
- Pioneer Elite 92/94/01/03

Yamaha 663, Sony 920, Yamaha HTR-6180, Pioneer 918 (soon to be 919)...the list goes on man. This stuff gets talked about all the time in the Reciver/amp section. Should search there, as these kind of threads come up atleast once, twice a week.

just bought the Sony 720 and love it. Great, affordable receiver for the PS3 and you still get HD audio with it.

You might want to take a look at a refurbish Marantz SR5002 from accessories4less.com. It is one hell of a reciever if you have a PS3 to decode HD audio.

since the sony 920 and Pioneer 1018 are pretty much out of stock everywhere since they will be replaced soon, I would say check out the Denon 1909/789, Marantz 5002 refurb, Yamaha 663. The Yamaha if you want to add an external amp later. Otherwise I would go with the Denon personally.

I have the Onkyo 605 and the Polk RM6750 speakers and it works great! The 605 is the 606 minus one HDMI input. I don't notice any problems with it.

I also have a PS3 and an Onkyo 605 and i have no buzzing. Only way i can get it to buzz a bit is if i turn the volume to 80 the movie is muted and i have my ear right next to the speaker, then there is a little bit of noise. But i listen to my movies with the volume from 48-58 depending on the movie 0 buzz. If you don't get the Onkyo i recommend the Yamaha V663.

I don't notice any "buzzing sounds" with my 606/Polk RM6750 setup. I would suggest going somewhere to listen to it. To my untrained ears, it sounds terrific.

I would buy either the Denon 789/1909 or the Yamaha that was recommended. You cannot go wrong with either of them. I used to be interested in the Onkyo 606 and 706 until my friend at ABC warehouse did a side by side comparison set up for me using the same exact speakers for each receiver. The Denon just trounced the Onkyo's as far as sound goes and video transfer.
