That is my understanding as well—I haven’t tried it though.

@thedean @kyle @1blufan do you take the google code from the URL? I dont remember if it pops up in a box anywhere until I log in to google account....? Please let me know.

Also, I am not sure if the above process will still give 3 redemptions...it seems iTunes is getting burnt too when VUDU is redeemed. I have not tried the other way round redeeming in iTunes first...

I have not redeem anything at HBO in a long time. But I don't remember it generating a code for any of the 3 providers. I just remember you input from the sheet & you pick a provider.

As I said before I use to enter code directly at Vudu. Then I would give away the code to 2 other people who could redeem at HBO & pick Google or iTunes.

iTunes was directly redeemable, but my memory was that Google Play redemption needs a generated code.

I tried a new code directly in iTunes...doesn't seem to be working. Not sure if iTunes redemption has been removed by HBO, though it seems very unlikely...but nothing else explains this!

It *would* be cracking-down, even a complete change in policy, since I recall that HBODigitalHD.com always prompted, after redeeming a code via VUDU, with: "Remember, you can also get an UltraViolet copy via iTunes." (I recall this both because I was glad to see that HBO officially supported multiple redeems, and because I thought it was funny that they were confused as to UltraViolet being associated with iTunes.)

Then redeem Vudu, iTunes, Google Play”

So it sounds like you want to generate the google play code via the hbo site but don’t redeem it until after you’ve redeemed the others directly.

This is my view, as well, though I've always considered grabbing the Google Play code from the URL, first, as prudent, since you can sell & send just the Google Play code and not have to worry about the other redemptions being stolen by the buyer. (Unless there's some reverse code generator that I'm not aware of.)

Same thing with Disney codes, though Disney's site makes it easier to document the Google Play-only code.

Yes, the Google Play code is what you're looking to document. Feel free to save the whole URL but DO NOT use the URL later ... or at least not until you've redeemed the original code via VUDU & iTunes.

What I believe but haven't confirmed is that, !Untested/YMMV!, redeeming just the Google Play code without using the original URL generated by HBODigitalHD.com will redeem the title without burning the other code portions ... since it's the URL that communicates the original code to Google Play. (You should see both the original code and the much longer Google Play redeem code in the copied/saved URL.)

It would be interesting to hear what happens were someone to risk a code set by redeeming JUST the Google Play-only code (copied from the URL; not the original code or redeeming via the URL) before attempting redemption of the VUDU or iTunes portions. I'm not sure how the original code could be affected if the original code isn't communicated via the URL to Google Play.

That would be new, different information from what I've read so far, and a bummer.

IIRC, HBODigitalHD.com doesn't provide an easy way to copy the Google Play code like you find w/ Disney's redemption portal, but you can copy the generated URL to a text file and then locate and save the Google Play code. Then, this much longer code can be entered directly into the Google Play 'Redeem' page and you'll be prompted to add the title to your library, with the price crossed-out and 'Free' displayed as the cost.

I've tried redeeming GOT 1-7 directly in iTunes with a brand new code ( or so I was told when I bought it) and I always get the error 'this item is not available'
I also went through HBO and was redirected to the itunes store and got the same message.

I got the same message of "This item is no longer available" with a GOT 7 code, so there seems to be issues with iTunes & HBO codes. Doesn't work either directly on iTunes or through the HBO site (even though the site lets you select iTunes as an option).

Seems that whatever issue HBO codes had on iTunes was resolved today. I tried redeeming the same GOT 7 code that wasn't working the last few days again today and was able to redeem directly in iTunes.

Google only code now says "The redemption code in the request has already been redeemed and cannot be used again for redemption."

Don't have a GOT iTunes for s7 to test, but if anyone has a spare

When was this change made? And anyone know what happens to a google play from older HBO codes where the Vudu/iTunes had already been redeemed?

Would you still need to enter code in HBO to get a google play generated code?

I dont think you can redeem Google portion now if Vudu was already redeemed.

google play redeem disappears from HBODigital if you redeem itunes or vudu now. currently, hbodigital reports your code is spent after 1 redeem of any platform now.

the only 2 methods to get google play on hbo digital codes as of 04/19:

1) Redeem Google Play first on HBODigital, but it may burn your vudu and itunes redeem.

or

2) Log out of google play. Attempt to redeem the googleplay portion via HBODigital, then copy the url generated and save it for later use. Now redeem itunes or vudu directly. Then use the GP generated (and saved) URL redeem link.

So is this change from the March date it changed moving forward or would movies in which the Vudu/iTunes were redeemed but still had Google Play before the change was made still have the GP redeem?

Say movie "Fahrenheit 451" had the Vudu/iTunes redeemed last year but still had GP. Would it still have GP or is that gone after the change?
