How do you think this movie is going to do in the box office now that you have seen it? There was a thread a few days ago where it was being discussed what the global take would be. Do you think it will do well, or only among a select crowd?

I agree the original ending would've been cooler, but the new one suits me ok. I'm a huge fan of the book and the new ending is definitely not a reason to avoid seeing it now. Just a little longer to wait....

Some reason this movie strikes me as not being quite as popular with the mainstream crowd as 300, yet moreso than V For Vendetta.

The former did $210 million domestically with the latter doing $70 million. Seems like 2008 burned people out a bit on superheroes too. Hmm, to predict under $200 million seems a little crazy after all the box office numbers from last year, but 300 came out the same time and was incredibly popular and just crossed that mark. I'll say conservative and potentially foolish: $190 domestic. Hopefully I'm one of those people who'll eat my words like the people who predicted The Dark Knight to max out at the same number.

I don't know, I'm pretty happy that the suits ditched the squid.

I'm stoked for this, and will be even more stoked for the director's cut.

So many people love 300. I dont get it. I like it ok, but it isnt awesome, in m opinion. I could watch dark knight or rambo many times more than 300 I just hope watchmen isnt just more of the same..

Seriously ever since matrix everyone is doing the slow mo super duper move thing..Its played out move on

Sorry got a little off topic... I am looking forward to watchmen, it just better not be a 300 redo

That's a tough one. I hate to make the comparison but I think movie is just as good as The Dark Knight (which I also thought was too long). But it won't even come close to that box office. Watchmen just isn't that well known of a property and the rating itself will limit the younger crowd. It will do solid business, but probably less than 300. I think the brutality will turn off a few viewers. DVD/BD sales should be huge.

Comic fans should definitely be jazzed.

Watchmen isn't even close to 300, in tone, style, or story. So that shouldn't worry you.

Can you give a comparison? As rugged as Sin City? More/less?

User opinions will be the deciding factor if I see this in the theater or wait for video. I don't really care what the critics say. Thanks OP for the mini review of the film.

Well, everybody is entitled to their own opinion. After I watch it at IMAX, then I'll judge for myself.

You can make some comparisons to Sin City, at least in the gore area. Very similar.

I'll spoiler what I felt got the most reaction from the audience and could turn off some viewers. Don't read if you haven't read the comic and want to go in fresh. This is a pretty important reveal of one of the characters.
[Show spoiler]There is quite a bit of violence inflicted on women. Hardcore beatings that leads up to an attempted rape. There is also the cold blooded shooting of a pregnant woman at pointblank range along with helpless civilians.

The gore is about on par with what you might see in stuff like Saw or Hostel. Lots of blood and bones.

Oh and Zach Snyder shows that you can still have a hardcore hand-to-hand fight scene without trying to mask it with blurry shaky cam.

Really? The Watchmen violence/gore etc is on par with the two movies you mentioned above?

Some of it is but don't let me make you think the entire movie is like that. It is used sparingly.

Between the violence and nudity, this is not a superhero movie for kids (Although i bet more little kids will be taking to see this SUPERHERO movie, then should be opening weekend)
