I was brought up Catholic and am myself a fairly conservative individual. I spend my days helping others and working with people from all walks of life. Could I also happen to be a sick individual? Perhaps, but the rest of my life, the work I do, and my family would likely tell you otherwise. I prefer my life to be as consistent, routine, and vanilla as possible most days. Films like this are my release from the doldrums of an otherwise very boring, very average, and very uneventful life.
You just said in your post that you were very affected by the movie and even saddened by it, so no I wasn't referring to you as a person. I don't see why people need to bring up religion as an argument, it's self defeating because it implies that one needs religion to have a moral compass, far from the truth.

What a compelling argument that makes me reevaluate my opinions. I made it clear that it's just my opinion. I shouldn't even have to. Anything I say at this point you can just assume is my opinion. You don't have to agree with me but just understand that.

The explicit nature of the material just drives that point home with a lot more power than if it were some generic horror film with Dawson's Creek stars fighting off a ghost or boogeyman.

Get off the high moralizing self righteous zealot tower, and stop condemning others for not sharing your viewpoint and I assume "religious" morals. I have only watched the film once, I found it well made and disturbing, but also very effective in being disturbing. I'll pick up Unearthed's release when it comes out, and anyone trying to call me sick for saying so needs to stop being so judgmental about other people and take a good hard look in the mirror.
The problem is that the depravity is the selling point of this movie, it's all anyone talks about and is the sole reason for the controversy. Of course anything found in this movie is going to be disturbing but I don't think it's a mark of quality.

Stop putting words in my mouth, I never brought up religion as an argument. You just assumed that was the root cause, what if I told you I'm not a religious person?

I enjoyed this movie very much. A very well-made, straight-up horror movie that is not watered down by humor or other stuff, with good acting and a fascinating story on "snuff".

Some good scenes of horror, mixed with sex, and you have a winner!

Uncut is the way to go!

The only thing shocking about this movie is how well made it is. With a premise like this one would assume some ultra low-budget z-grade amateur crap.

It's still a work of fiction so i find real-world stuff way more horrifying than this, on the other hand ... do i need to revisit this flick anytime soon ? I don't think so.

I feel like the only one who wasn’t shocked or offended and just thought the movie straight up sucked.

It gets propped up by a bunch of try hards who thinks it’s edgy to rep it.

... or maybe some people (like ZeTi above and myself) just genuinely think it is a well-made movie?

I mean, for all the controversy, it is actually rather conservative in its depiction of violence. It always cuts away from or shoots around anything really explicit, preferring to suggest by using sound effects instead.

That's kind of what made the whole controversy so interesting to me - you never reel SEE anything. Instead you are led up to the point, and then the movie suggest what is happening, but you really fill in the details in your head.

For a movie SO controversial that the festival director in Sitges in Spain at one point was under criminal investigation just for showing it, you would really think it would be much more explicit than it in reality is.

That, coupled with the subtext I believe I find in it, is what makes it such a good and fascinating movie to me.

Of course I do not deny that some may be attracted to it solely by its controversy and subject. But in my experience 'gorehounds' tend to be in their teens and early twenties - and I think you will find that many of us in this thread are quite a lot older than that.

Personally that period for me is 20-30 years back, and I am way beyond looking for the next new thing to make me appear 'edgy'. I mean, at my age, who do you think I need to impress?

Mods please delete this comment if it breaks any rules, I just didn't see the point of creating a sale thread in the forums for the one movie I can't sell on Ebay. If anyone is interested in this please feel free to message me, this is the US unrated release. I have nothing to go for on pricing as amazon has it listed for 200 (ridiculous) and ebay doesn't have it at all.

Again please mods if this post breaks rules, let me know and I can delete it, I'd hate for a ban simply because I didn't want to corrupt the forums with a useless sale thread.
Ha. I’d love to sell mine too. It’s like a curse. Once you buy it...it’s yours forever. Or you pay for the right to sell on Amazon.

It’s okay to start a thread in the trading forum for just one title. Go for it. These posts will have to be deleted though, because it’s against the rules to sell outside of the trading forum.

I didn’t realize this was OOP.....

I appreciate that, I've been keeping an eye on this since I posted. I'll end up making a lone thread for it. Thanks again!

I don't know which edition you have, but now would be the time to sell it if you were planning on it. Unearthed films still plans to release the fully uncut edition on Blu Ray in the states but is/was working through some legalities due to one or two of the scenes. I'd expect to see a new edition in 2019.

i really didn't care for this movie at all. it was slow, and super boring. and the storyline didn't even make any kinda sense. i'm probably just stupid though. i wasn't even close to throwing up like everybody claims they did. a film made just for shock value. i will admit that baby scene was twisted but i wasn't really nauseous from it. have i just become desensitized to everything?

The film was never released fully Uncut in the States. The Blu-ray that was released in the States by Invincible Pictures was labeled Unrated but still had cuts. The Digital Copy that originally came with the Blu-Ray was fully Uncut.

Invincible Pictures then released 2 different fully Uncut DVDs, one in Limited Edition packaging and one in an actual Keepcase. Both DVDs (like the Blu-Ray) are out of print as well.

In all honesty, it's not valuable, unless you find someone who doesn't realize it's not the fully Uncut Version of the film on the Blu-Ray. As TripleHBK mentioned, once Unearthed Films' Blu-Ray release is out, it will probably be the definitive version of the film.

Most folks who wanted to own the fully Uncut Version of the film on Blu-Ray, imported the 3-Disc Swedish Release (which is also out of print now).

Is there an uncut, English-subtitled Blu-ray of this anywhere in the world? Is there still hope for an Unearthed release?

The Unearthed release is definitely still happening. They posted an update about it on Facebook not too long ago.

Indeed. People ask about it at least once per week on their facebook group and every so often we get an update. It still seems probable that we'll get a 2019 release from them. Don't be surprised if this one is a shadow release though and isn't publicly sold at the usual retail channels. Given the nature of some of the content I fully expect this one will be direct purchases only.
