AV/Receivcer is good but not deep sound!

Now, I talk about pre/pros amp, that's called "home theatre" like as luxury room.
Hey Opips, they are not talking about pre/pro amp's or intergrate amp.

This subject is about the different Codec the Onkyo has to offer and the OP was wondering what is everyone's favorite when they listen to music, play games or watch a movie.

I love to listen to the Ultra2 on my Onkyo 805. Ultra2 kinda brings the brightness down from my Klipsch set-up.

Default Select 2 and ultra 2

Is there a difference between the select2 option on the 706 and the ultra plus2 on the 806 model?

Hey Opips have you ever heard a Onkyo 805?
THX/Ultra 2 is very good listen music like as same intergrated amplifier stereo.

I believe you. THX/Ultra 2 is more deep sound.

Now that the delima is over...

Does anyone have opinions while using Audyssey during any of these listening modes? I turned it on and it sounded muddy to me.

Wrong, the TX-SR805 has more power, better signal to noise ratio, better frequency response AND less total harmonic distortion than the A-9555.

Sorry.

I wouldn't say that there are profound differences between the two. It's more like a label that THX has. Apparently something I read somewhere, (sorry no links) that the Ultra plus line is for big rooms, while select is for a moderate sized room. I guess it's just the way it processes the sound to give a bigger sound in a bigger room. Then obviously you have the matrixing and all the other stuff that goes with either.

Here's a graphical comparison of those stats, cut and pasted shoddily by me.

Changes for me sometimes, but right now this is what I’m normally at:

Tunrtable (vinyl) – PURE AUDIO
Super Audio CD – DSD DIRECT
CD - STEREO
Cassette – STEREO
DVD – THX CINEMA
Blu-ray – DIRECT
PS3 games – THX CINEMA
Satellite TV – THX CINEMA

I usually keep the EQ turned off as well. Sometimes with TV sources that are a little muffled I’ll turn EQ on where I have the top three frequencies at +2, +4 and +2 for FRONT and CENTER.

When in "MULTI CH" mode, my audyssey settings are enabled (Audyssey LED light comes on). I set them up with the included mic and then tweaked them a little to my preference. I don't use Direct like many use because when I do, the Audyssey light goes off and the audio sounds "tinny", treble-heavy, not enough oomph (bass). I don't know why that is...

Usually it's either in the source...or if it's two channel your sub isn't being used as the crossover is turned off.

I have floorstanding Paradigm speakers and I find that when there is ample bass in the source DIRECT sounds fine.

With 5.1 DIRECT is never light on bass for me as my SUB is a beast.

That does help me understand, db, since my speakers/sub are not beasts (Boston Accoustics bookshelves).

So, unless you have "beasts" for speakers, don't use Direct? Direct cancels Audyssey adjustments, correct?

It does for my 605 - selecting "Direct" kicks out the LED Audyssey light and I lose too much bass for my liking...

That's right, all EQ and crossover settings are cancelled - if you have limited frequency response in your fronts past 65Hz~80Hz or so you're going to find the low end is missing somewhat when you go to DIRECT...for TWO CHANNEL sources.

For multi-channel sources you may find in the same situation your fronts are being asked to perform past their limits and this in turn may affect their ability to perform beautifully from 65Hz~22kHz.
