can someone please tell why why new releases are in 50GB discs???!! and what are the differences?
so is the quality way better? thx |

the number at the top is a series of 8 binary digits we IT people call a byte. One Giga Byte is 1 billion of these binary sequences. A blu-ray disc can hold up to 50 billion of these binary sequences. Imagine that each sequence is instructions on how to draw an image, i more steps you have in the instructions the closer the image will look to the orginal source. Basicaly since the 50GB disk has more data capacity the more instructions it can have for the player to process resulting in much clearer picture quality. A flawless 1080p video is 2 million pixels 24 times every second. Thats 48 million pixels every second. This equates to 350 trillion pixels total in a 2 hour movie. Even 50GB will not be enough space if it were raw uncompressed data. However the less compression you use the better. 50GB Blu-ray gives it a 67% advantage over HD-DVD which largest disc is 30GB. |
